My name is Denise and I qualified as a Reflexologist in 1995. I specialise in supportive cancer care and palliative care. Reflexology is my main therapy, which I love. I am qualified in other complementary therapies, these include: Indian head massage, reiki (master level), hot stone therapy, cranio - sacral therapy, hopi ear candles and Thai foot massage.
I enjoy combining therapies and offer a personal fusion of treatments. This is a way to really feel the benefit of complementary therapy, a personal blend of treatments to suit you.
Relax, unwind and de-stress with a personal fusion of complementary therapy in a warm, calm and relaxed ambience.
SERVICES Complementary Therapy and Supportive Cancer Care
People often speak of feeling they have lost control of their life when they have cancer. Suddenly life changes. Cancer is not just a medical condition but evokes an emotional response, the fear, the despair, the pain and loss. At the same time it can be difficult to cope with the implications of the illness itself.
Complementary therapy works with the person as a whole. This is called a holistic approach.
The overall effect of complementary therapy gives a feeling of being cared for and nurtured. A time for deeper understanding and release of emotions and fears. It also gives time out, for you to let go, release and be somewhere else just for a time.
Through my experience I have found complementary therapy offers a way to reconnect ‘with the self’. It is deeply relaxing and helps promote a restful sleep. It can help with drug related/chemotherapy side effects. It may also help reduce anxiety especially before treatment and boost the immune system. The treatment does not only work on a physical level, but can have a profound effect on the emotions too and aims to promote a calm and balanced mind.
Benefits may include:
- Reduced side effects from chemotherapy / medication
- Reduced nausea
- Relief from constipation
- Increased energy levels
- More able to cope
- Uplift in mood
- Increased self esteem
- Reduction of pain
- Better sleeping patterns
- Deep relaxation
Reflexology
Reflexology is very gentle and relaxing but can also be stimulating and uplifting. It is a form of foot massage and can be used to treat a variety of medical conditions. I offer a holistic approach to health by treating the body, mind and spirit.
Over the years I have continued professional development and where appropriate I combine and integrate new treatments. This enables me to offer a ‘fusion’ of therapies which are individual to the patient’s wellbeing.
My special area of interest is treating people with cancer. I have been working with a local cancer charity ‘Circle of Comfort’ since 2008. Within the charity I offer reflexology to diagnosed cancer patients.
I have attended a number of courses relating to the treatment of cancer. The most recent one was at Christies Hospital in Manchester. The course was aimed at adapting reflexology for hospice and cancer care.
Through my experience of treating cancer patients I have found that reflexology offers a way to reconnect ‘with the self’. It is deeply relaxing and helps promote a restful sleep. Reflexology can help with drug related / chemotherapy side affects such as constipation, fatigue and low self esteem. I feel it can also help reduce anxiety especially before treatment and boost the immune system. The treatment does not only work on a physical level, but can have a profound effect on emotions too. Reflexology aims to promote a calm and balanced mind.
My treatments tend to last for one hour but this is sometimes too long for some patients, so I endeavour to make each treatment specific to the individual.
Reiki
I began practicing Reiki a number of years ago and qualified to Master level / teacher in 2005.
Reiki is a wonderful treatment. There is little or no touch but it can have a profound effect. Reiki works with the body’s energy and helps to balance and heal on all levels especially emotionally.
Reiki helps to alleviate stress and anxiety and also promotes deep relaxation. This in turn boosts the immune system and helps to promote a positive outlook of life.
Indian Head Massage
I also qualified to practice Indian Head Massage in 2000.
Indian Head Massage is great for relieving tension of the upper back, neck, shoulders and head. I love to incorporate hot stone therapy with this treatment. The heat from the stones allows a deeper relaxation of the muscles, easing tension, improving circulation and removing toxins which in turn increases energy and also aids concentration.
For more information on the therapies I offer or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Personal Anecdote
I became interested in complementary therapies after receiving intensive reflexology treatments for fatigue. The treatments continued for almost a year and as a result my health greatly improved. This sparked my interest and enthusiasm for complementary health therapies.
I am committed to complementary therapies and embrace the thought that we can make a positive change to our health and wellbeing.
I believe that complementary therapies can work in harmony alongside conventional medicine.
My interest in treating people with cancer is through losing my Mum to ovarian cancer in 1999. She received treatments from me and I believe this brought her great peace and relaxation.
