The core fundamentals of the exercises are based upon a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the human body.
When your body and mind are under stress your muscles become restricted which in turn affects movement and posture; leading to tiredness, weakness, aching muscles and increased risk of injury. Pilates uses the eight key principles to make a connection between mind and body to bring positive results both internally and externally.
Osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapists are now recommending Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today.
I offer both individual and group classes to those wishing to benefit from Pilates.
Classes
Matwork - booked as a block of 6 classes.
The Matwork classes of 1 hour are grouped according to experience to ensure that the series of exercises are suitable for everyone and that classes are able to progress.
Classes are limited to no more than 12 clients to ensure that everyone receives the required level of attention and support. The overall goal is to improve stamina, tone, posture and co-ordination, whilst helping you to relax!
Price:
£8.75 per hour
1:1 or 2:1 private sessions
I provide private sessions to those looking for individual attention and a more personalised Pilates programme.
These can take place in the comfort of your own home, office or studio.
Price:
£35 per hour for 1:1
£45 per hour for 2:1 (Combined fee)
Induction
Before we start any of the above classes I will ask you to meet me for a private one hour session to complete an enrolment form giving details of any injuries and conditions. This information will be used to understand your needs and requirements. This private time will also provide us with an opportunity to run through a series of exercises to ascertain the correct class for you and give you the chance to ask any questions or clear up any reservations you may have.
If you have not experienced Pilates before we will use this time to walk through the Principles of Pilates.
Special introductory Price:

£40 per hour for 2:1
What should I wear?
Clothing that allows freedom of movement. Tracksuit bottoms, shorts and T-shirts are all suitable.
About Me
My name is Karen and I am a qualified Body Control Pilates instructor practicing in Kingston Upon Thames and surrounding areas. I am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA), a professional body for Pilates instructors which sets a quality standard for all instructors to follow.
I discovered Pilates in an effort to recover from a car accident I was involved in. My physiotherapist recommended Pilates as part of my recovery programme for my back injury. I found that Pilates not only relieved and helped my back pains but also improved my posture and overall strength. I decided to not only participate in Pilates but take my interest further by becoming a qualified instructor and help others in learning and enjoying Pilates.
