SERVICES
Welcome to Equilibrium Holistic HealthI am committed to empowering people, helping them to take responsibility for their health and well-being. My particular area of interest lies in the emotional aspect of illness, and how our mental well-being impacts heavily on our lives.
This can present itself in many ways – physically, chemically and emotionally – please read the list of symptoms I can help you with.
My personal journey into complementary therapy began 15 years ago after getting frustrated with my GP, who could only offer me a range of drugs that masked my symptoms, but didn’t cure the cause. A friend recommended a homeopath, and from that first treatment I was converted. Don’t get me wrong, I have been back to my GP for a number of issues over the years, but it was the sessions with my Kinesiologist that maintained optimum health for me, both on a physical and mental level.
I look forward to meeting you in person!
What is Kinesiology? Pronounced Kin-easy-ology, the starting point of this therapy is being able to say it, and as you can see, it’s ‘easier’ than it first looks!
Kinesiology literally means ‘study of movement’. The word comes from the Greek word kinesis, which means motion, and ology, which means the study of. It is believed that, by interpreting the energy flow within key body-systems, we can gain useful information about the body’s physiological and biochemical status.
Kinesiology works on the basis that in order to have total health, we must look at the person as a complete whole. Factors that affect the physical body will not only have an effect on other parts of the body but will have an effect on the mind and emotions too. For example, chronic back pain could lead to a person feeling depressed and by the same token, excessive worry could contribute to the development of a stomach ulcer or digestive problems.
Maggie La Tourelle, a leading Kinesiologist, defines Kinesiology as a system of natural health care, which combines manual muscle testing with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, energy balancing and other healing modalities.
Kinesiology is one of the only therapies that can be truly called holistic, as it looks at all aspects, be it mental, chemical, physical or energy. I am able to test and correct which of these aspects is causing an imbalance.
Kinesiology makes use of muscle testing techniques to monitor the flow of energy throughout the body on a very fine level. Through this system I can identify the factors which may be disrupting the natural flow of energy, which are essential to good health, based on the principle that muscles are related to meridian energy lines. Meridians are channels which follow certain life force energy, known as a Chi.
All energy must be flowing correctly around the body for it to be healthy, and severe energy imbalance can cause disease. Corrections are made by gentle massage and touch on reflex and acupuncture points. Kinesiology makes use of specific body movements and may suggest changes in lifestyle or nutrition.
ReflexologyReflexology is a powerful therapy that uses massage of the reflex points on the hands and feet to stimulate the body's natural healing energies.
It can benefit many common physical complaints, as well as combat the emotional and physical pressures of today's busy and stressful lifestyles.
Reflexology aims to treat the individual as an entity, incorporating the body, mind and spirit, working the whole person with the objective of inducing a state of balance and harmony.
Reflexology is based on the principle that the hand/foot is a hologram of the body so different parts of the body can be stimulated through massaging areas of the hand/foot. It has been used throughout history as a means of healing.
A Reflexology treatment is extremely relaxing and allows you time to centre yourself and you will leave the treatment feeling calm yet energised.
During the treatment you will remain fully clothed with just your shoes and socks removed.
