What is Podiatry?
Podiatry involves the diagnosis and treatment of many foot and lower limb conditions. This can be catergorised into several categories.
1) Chiropody - Skin and nail conditions including corns, callus, fungal infection, in grown nails and verrucae.
2) Podiatry - Diabetes, Vascular conditions, skin disorders such as eczema and dermatitis, neurological investigations, Biomechanics, gait analysis and lower limb injuries
At the FootHouse we deliver top quality chiropody and podiatry services and specialise in Biomechanics. Bio-Kinetic Solutions takes this one step further and offers motion and pressure analysis
3) Biomechanics - The study of the Forces and Motion of the human body.FootHouse specialises in podiatric biomechanics for foot and associated lower limb pain.
At FootHouse we use Amfit Footfax CAD-CAM foot digitizer, Templo 2D Video analysis and AMcube Foot Pro pressure mapping system. This enables us to fully assess the kinetics and kinematics (forces and motion) of the body and capture the foot profile ready for design and manufacture of the orthosis. In association with Insole Pro and MAR systems we can offer one of the fastest and most in depth biomechanical assessment and orthosis production services in south east England.
Bio-Kinetic Solutions specialises in more in depth motion and presseure analysis using the latest Hi Tech video and pressure analysis equipment. This service is aimed at Sports clubs and individuals, Health and medical professionals and individuals with problems related to gait and posture and foot pain

David Smith is the proprietor of the FootHouse
He is a registered HPC podiatrist, an Associate Member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (MChS), he has completed an MSc in applied biomechanics at Strathclyde University and is a member of i-FAB (International Foot and Ankle Biomechanics)
The Health Professionals Council (HPC) regulate podiatry practice and 12 other professions allied to health care
This ensures that all practices follow a minimum standard and are legally allowed to use the titles Chiropodist and or Podiatrist
Often we are asked what is the difference between Chiropodist and Podiatrist? the answer is nothing - in the UK Podiatrist is the modern name for Chiropodist
Some practitioners prefer the old title as it is more well known to their customers . Only those registered with the HPC can legaly practice using these titles.
