FUNCTION THERAPY DELIVERS A WHOLE BODY APPROACH
Looking at every aspect that influences structure, balance and function to deliver a tailored treatment strategy.
Through a combination of hands on treatments and by recommending specific exercises or stretching programs, we aim to remove the therapist dependence and return clients to function.
Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy
Sports massage is the scientific manipulation of soft tissue for therapeutic purposes and injury prevention involving the restoration to normal functional activity of the various structures of the body. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activities and to maintain it in optimal condition. Massage can be used in the conditioning and training phases of sport: pre-, inter- and post-competition, and post travel.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy works with the subtle natural rhythms of the body. It is a very gentle relaxing therapy using a very light touch. The client usually lies fully clothed on a treatment table while the therapist evaluates the body’s natural rhythmic movement. The therapist works with these rhythms using a subtle touch to achieve releases and restore balance. Craniosacral therapy can be a deeply relaxing therapeutic experience.
Functional Therapy
Functional Therapy is observing and predicting motions in the body and working to restore any dysfunctions using specific exercises and hands on techniques. Using tools such as Gait Analysis the therapist examines the client in motion looking for joint ranges and whole body function before getting hands on to help the client drive joint motion. By working with the client in motion the joint ranges and freedom of movement can quickly return delivery fast effective results.
Paediatric Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy works with the subtle natural rhythms of the body. It is a very gentle relaxing therapy using a very light touch. When working with babies and children the child will normally lie or sit fully clothed on the parents or therapists lap while the therapist evaluates the body’s natural rhythmic movement. The therapist works with these rhythms using a subtle touch to achieve releases and restore balance. Craniosacral therapy can be a deeply relaxing therapeutic experience.
ABOUT ME
Before becoming a therapist I originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, so have a solid understanding of mechanics and mechanical systems. I apply this background to provide a structured, methodical approach, analysing whole body structure for balance
and imbalance.
I am a keen cyclist, runner and triathlete, enjoying competing in both sprint distance and endurance races to challenge myself. Endurance events I have taken part in include running 32 miles in the French Alps, an ultramarathon of 42 miles in the English peak district, Challenge Henley iron distance in 2011 and the Big Woody iron distance triathlon in 2010 which involved – 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling then 26 miles of running. From experience I understand the importance of structure and function in injury prevention and sporting performance.
My other hobbies include open water swimming, walking, climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking. I also enjoy spending time with my young son, who since birth has enjoyed the benefits of Paediatric Craniosacral Therapy.
