Bach Flowers

What are Bach Flowers...

In the 1920s and 1930s, a noted homeopath, physician and bacteriologist called Dr Edward Bach discovered a system of flower remedies that can help us rediscover the positive side of ourselves.

Dr Bach was a successful medical practitioner, but became disillusioned with conventional medicine and the way it focused on the illness rather than the patient

He believed the world of nature could provide significant healing properties and by the time he died in 1936, he had developed a complete system of 38 remedies, each prepared from natural sources such as extracts of wild plants, trees and bushes.

Each of the 38 individual Bach Flower remedies is unique and can be used to treat a particular negative mood or emotional state. They work by treating an individual’s state of mind rather than the disease or its symptoms.

The Bach Flowers can be safely taken alongside other treatments. They don't interfere with other medications and you can't overdose on them.

Bach Flowers can be taken individually or as a combination to make a personal treatment which will help you to find an emotional balance.

How Do They Work?...

Dr Bach focused on creating remedies that were intended to treat the personalities, feelings and emotions of his patients. He believed that alleviating someone’s emotional distress would unblock the body’s own ability to heal any physical distress or trauma.

The 38 flower remedies are categorised into seven different groups to treat:
  • Fear
  • Loneliness
  • Uncertainty
  • Lack of interest
  • Despondency and despair
  • Oversensitivity
  • Too much concern for others
Many people will already be familiar with Dr Bach’s Rescue Remedy. This is a combination of five remedies that can be used whenever things start to get on top of you: Rock Rose for terror and panic, Impatiens for irritation and impatience, Clematis for inattentiveness, Star of Bethlehem for shock and Cherry Plum for irrational thoughts.

How Can Bach Flowers Help Me...

First of all, Susanne will talk to you to find out about the problems, concerns and fears that you may currently have in your life – and the underlying causes.

She can then prepare a remedy which may involve one Bach Flower essence or a combination of no more than seven. These are mixed with water and a little alcohol as a preservative in a glass dropper bottle with a rubber teat, which makes it easy to dispense the amount of drops you need.

Susanne will advise you how many drops you need to take – and how often you need to take them

Bach flower remedies are particularly good for dealing with mental and emotional states such as loss, grief, bereavement, loneliness, despair, fear of being alone, shyness, anxiety, panic attacks, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.

In traditional medicine, most people do not seek professional help until they are already ill.

That can be the case for people seeking help through complementary health methods too. Bach Flowers help to restore a positive emotional balance which then assists the body to get back to a healthy state.

But as Dr Bach said, why wait? Bach Flowers can be used as an effective preventative measure to keep mind and body in balance so that illness is less likely to strike.

What Are The Benefits?...

Clients who use Bach Flower remedies report significant improvements in their mental attitude and outlook, including increased confidence, clarity of thought, peacefulness, energy, inner balance, motivation and zest for life.

They can be taken by everyone, including babies and small children – and even animals and plants!

Reiki

What is Reiki

I currently practice two forms of Reiki. These are detailed below:

Usui Reiki

Every living thing has some form of energy. Reiki is a method of natural healing which channels that energy to activate the body’s own ability to heal itself, promoting good health and wellbeing.

It is a natural healing energy which works on a variety of levels, not just the physical. It helps to restore total harmony and balance in mind and body and can benefit everyone, from young babies to the elderly.

Reiki can be used for everything from simple relaxation and stress reduction to assisting the recovery process after illness or injury.

Reiki – pronounced ‘ray-key’ – was founded in Japan in the early part of the ninth century by Dr Mikao Usui. The name originates from the Japanese words ‘rei’ (universal) and ‘ki’ (energy).

Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. There is nothing you must believe in to use Reiki. It will work – whether you believe in it or not!

Kundalini Reiki

Kundalini Reiki was started by a Danish meditation master called Ole Gabrielsen.

It is possibly the simplest form of healing in that it uses the dormant energy that lies within everyone.

Kundalini is derived from the Sanskrit word kundala which literally means “coiled” and has links with the Hindu religion, where a mythological character is envisioned as a coiled serpent goddess.

In Kundalini Reiki, when the dormant energy is awakened, it moves in a serpent-like fashion as it rises from the bottom of the body up to the head, right where the crown chakra is.

As the energy moves upward, it releases all blockages and frees all other energies that are dormant in the body.

Kundalini energy is a powerful healing force and can release the body’s bonds with an illness both physically and mentally.

It can purify the body, drastically reduce stress and even help with addiction problems.

Techniques

Every client is different so firstly, before any treatment takes place, Susanne will have a chat with you to find out your needs and the best way forward.

Reiki is a non-invasive and non-manipulative treatment and there is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes through all materials.

It is usually carried out with the client lying down on a comfortable treatment table or sitting in a comfortable position.

Susanne will place her hands on or over various places on the client’s body. She prefers to do hands-on treatments but if a client prefers no physical contact, the treatment can be equally effective. The energy flow is the same.

People experience this energy flow in different ways. Some feel a sense of warmth, a mild tingling sensation or a sense of coolness – and some feel nothing at all.

But the experience is deeply relaxing and beneficial.

Treatment

Even one single Reiki session can make a difference – but a course of regular treatments may be more effective.

These may be weekly, fortnightly or less often depending on the needs of the individual. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and reviewed as necessary.

This will always be subject to your own preferences, and can be changed at any time according to progress.

Benefits

Reiki supports all forms of orthodox and complementary treatment. It does not replace conventional medicine or treatments but can work alongside them to promote recovery and good health.

Reiki can help to:
  • Relieve pain and discomfort
  • Remove energy blockages which cause illness
  • Relieve depression and anxiety
  • Promote deep relaxation and stress relief

Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly.

Reiki does not take the place of conventional medicine. Always consult a GP for an acute or infectious condition or problems of urgent concern

My Lineage

What is a Reiki Lineage?

The Reiki Lineage refers to the line of Reiki Masters that leads to the student. For traditional Reiki the line begins with Dr. Mikao Usui and continues with one of his Reiki Masters, then to one of theirs....

For a healing system to be called Reiki and be reconized as such, the lineage must trace back to Dr. Mikao Usui.
