Our lives all hold the incredible potential to flower just like the beautiful lotus.
THE GIFT OF YOGA I am a qualified Yoga Alliance teacher. I hold British Wheel of Yoga Accreditation and I am in continuous post graduate education.
I am presently writing up a teaching module for the British Wheel of Yoga using yoga as a therapy in bereavement. I also hold a BSc (First Class) Honours degree in Health Sciences. I have extensive holistic therapy skills and have worked in clinical practice for over 12 years with people with a wide range of illnesses and conditions. Both personal and professional experience has convinced me of the connection between our emotional and physical health and I believe yoga is invaluable in assisting and optimising health and wellbeing.
I have been fortunate to have studied under many remarkable teachers from different yogic backgrounds where I have gained a ‘melting pot’ of expertise and knowledge. I teach therapeutically using empathy and understanding. I adapt classes to accommodate the individual needs of students making yoga accessible to all irrespective of age, health, religion or circumstances.
I am committed to supporting others in developing deeper awareness of body and mind bringing calm and balance to their lives, whatever circumstances they are in.
About my yoga classes
Through the multi-dimensional nature of yoga I will guide you on your journey to achieve harmony in mind, body, energy and emotions.
The practice of yoga is a process of self-discovery. Although there are many styles of yoga all have the ultimate aim of union of mind and body. My style is hatha yoga based which uses the physical body as its starting point and with purpose guides the student, using the breath, into physical postures (asanas) which unleash a cascade of internal chemical responses, providing relief from countless physical and psychological ailments, strengthening the body, restoring balance and flexibility and creating a feeling of peace and wellbeing. Yoga offers many gifts.
Using my knowledge and understanding of the mechanics of the body, I incorporate principals of pilates, the Alexander Technique and essential aspects of Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions along with my considerable body work skills. I place a strong emphasis in precise alignment; improving posture and encouraging students’ self awareness, incorporated with a therapeutic revitalising and relaxing form of yin yoga to nurture the mind/body connection and enhance self confidence, wellbeing and inner contentment.
I take care in giving give each student individual attention. If you would prefer one-to-one tuition, or to be taught in a smaller group, private classes can be arranged. Prices available upon application.
If you are not sure if yoga will help you, you are welcome to give me a ring to discuss.
