What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is the second most popular system of healing in the world, used by over 30 million people in Europe alone. In 2005, the World Health Organization estimated that homeopathy is the fastest growing healthcare modality in the world with more than half a billion users. It is over 200 years old, was introduced to the U.K. by Dr Quin in 1828, is sanctioned by the UK government and has been an integral part of the National Health Service (NHS) since 1948. In a report on complementary and alternative therapies published by the House of Lords in November 2000, homeopathy is considered as one of five ‘group one’ therapies (out of thirty examined) judged to have convincing research evidence of effectiveness that should be more widely available on the NHS.
Homeopathy is a gentle, holistic system of healing that uses very dilute doses of carefully prepared medicines that have been tested on healthy consenting human volunteers. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’ i.e. an illness is treated with a remedy that, in homeopathic clinical trials, has been found to produce similar symptoms in a healthy person. For example, coffee is widely used as a stimulant, but in homeopathic form it can help relieve insomnia.
A safe and effective treatment
Remedies are non-toxic and carry no risk of harmful side effects or addiction. Treatment is gentle, safe and effective and is therefore especially suitable for pregnant women, children and newborns. It is much more effective than placebo, as can be seen by it’s success with plants, infants, animals and cells in petri dishes.

Who can benefit?
When, in 2005, the Bristol Homeopathic Hospital surveyed 6,500 patients with diverse complaints over six years, 70% reported improvement in their symptoms and well-being for conditions that had not responded to conventional treatment. Meanwhile, iatrogenic (pharmaceutical drug induced) disease, remains one of the leading causes of death. Increasingly, therefore, concerned about the long-term effects of repeated courses of drugs such as antibiotics, steroids and anti-depressants, people are turning to homeopathy. Instead of creating more symptoms as side effects, homeopathy addresses the underlying causes of ill-health by stimulating the immune system to resolve illness naturally from within.
Since homeopathy works holistically, it can benefit almost anyone, with acute illnesses such as epidemic diseases, or with long standing chronic illnesses such as eczema and asthma. It can ameliorate emotional as well as physical complaints or be used preventatively in situations where you are feeling run down or where tests show nothing abnormal but you still feel unwell. Some people choose to use it as a complementary medicine alongside other forms of healthcare; others use it as an alternative.
In a clinic providing homeopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic, 87% of patients reported reducing or stopping prescribed medication; 76% saw their GP less, and some no longer required hospital treatment (Impact Integrated Medicine Partnership 2006 Annual Report).
Typical conditions seen by homeopaths include:
- Skin complaints - eczema, psoriasis, rashes, warts, acne, dermatitis, fungal infections
- Digestive disorders - bloating, heartburn, colitis, IBS, Crohn's disease, constipation, diarrhoea, food poisoning
- Respiratory disorders - asthma, colds,
- Auto-immune disorders - allergies, arthritis, rheumatism
- Mental and emotional complaints - depression, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, grief, PTSD, anger, low self esteem, lack of confidence, insomnia
- Men's health - stress, injury, infertility, prostate problems, erectile dysfunction
- Women's health - menstrual and hormonal problems, PMS, thyroid problems, infertility, cystitis, candida infections, fibroids, polycystic ovaries, PCOS, pregnancy and birth complaints, birth trauma, breastfeeding and lactation difficulties, menopause
- Childhood diseases - fevers, colds, teething, mumps, measles, whooping cough, chicken pox etc
- Behavioural difficulties - bed-wetting, tantrums, aggression, hyperactivity, ADD, ADHD, autism, aspergers, dyslexia, dyspraxia
- Other debilitating conditions - injuries, accidents, traumas, surgery, migraines, headaches, backache, chronic fatigue, ME
Whilst working in a clinic treating women asylum seekers, I have experienced homeopathy to be very useful to those who have suffered a deep emotional trauma from events such as war, rape, violence and bereavement. If you are suffering from a condition that is not listed here, please contact me for a free fifteen minute consultation to see if homeopathy is right for you.

Natural Fertility Management
The Billings method is a natural way for women to monitor their menstrual cycle and fertility to achieve or avoid becoming pregnant. Clinical trials have demonstrated it's effectiveness when four commonsense guidelines are applied. It can be used by a woman in all stages of her reproductive life: regular, irregular cycling, breastfeeding, approaching menopause, recovering from emotional and physical stress or coming off contraceptive medication. It does not require any form of rhythm counting, temperature taking, drugs or devices, and so removes concern about the effects of chemical contraceptives on health. It has great success in helping couples achieve a pregnancy where their fertility may have been in doubt. I have experience of working with this method and can help if a woman chooses to use this for herself.
I have also received training in the Foresight method for promoting preconceptual care.
With over 30 years of experience Foresight has developed a thoroughly researched and successful programme to restore fertility by optimizing health to obtain a natural conception. Over 75% of previously infertile couples have gone on to have babies using the Foresight programme. For best results, I would need to see both prospective parents, together and separately, for homeopathic treatment, hair mineral analysis and supplemental advice depending on the results of the laboratory tests on your hair samples.
About myself
In 2007 I qualified with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Westminster School of Integrated Health after five years of training. This was the first homeopathy course in Europe to attain degree status in 1996. It includes a minimum of 300 hours spent in a teaching clinic as well as the study of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and differential diagnosis.
As a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths, the largest professional body in our field, I abide by its Code of Ethics and Practice and am committed to continuing my professional development. I regularly attend seminars and conferences, and undergo regular supervision and homeopathic treatment myself.
In 2006, as a final year student, I joined Jennifer Prescott Dooley (RSHom) in a clinic at the Crossroads Women’s Centre that treats mainly women asylum seekers, most of whom have been raped, tortured, witnessed the death of loved ones, and faced other traumas. We have found homeopathy to be very useful to help them to overcome these traumas and rebuild their lives. In 2007 I organized a weekend seminar on treating genocide and war trauma, presented by Peter Chappell (FSHom), and in 2009 I co-presented an international workshop on treating rape trauma.
I have also been involved with supporting patient groups to demand that homeopathy be more accessible on the NHS. In 2007, together with patients of the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital (RLHH), we wrote an Open Letter to Brent Primary Care Trust demanding an immediate restoration of it's contract with the RLHH. I am also committed to help make homeopathy more widely available in developing countries, and in 2009 I reported on the work of treating women asylum seekers at an international conference on Homeopathy in Developing Countries.
I have a particular interest in helping women and men overcome all kinds of trauma, as well as infertility problems, helping mothers and their babies to prepare for and recover from birth, and helping children to sail through the normal childhood diseases with strong and healthy immune systems. After fifteen years working with grassroots women's organisations, I now see women and men from all walks of life, with a wide variety of complaints.
