HOW CAN MASSAGE HELP YOU?
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE is relaxing, calming and energising. Using oil on the skin, the rhythmic, soothing massage strokes: - release deeply held tension
- relieve stiff and aching muscles
- calm the nervous and digestive systems
- relax the breathing
- reduce anxiety, tension and stress
DEEP TISSUE & REMEDIAL MASSAGE is applied in a more systematic way, focusing on areas of tension, stiffness and pain in the muscles and joints.
In addition to traditional deep tissue work, techniques such as rocking, kneading and stretching (which do not always require the use of oil) will:
- release tension, stiffness and pain from muscles, ligaments, joints and fascia
- increase flexibility and suppleness
- break up old scar tissue and adhesions
- improve mobility, posture and physical performace
- promote faster, more efficient recovery from injury and surgery
PREGNANCY MASSAGE can help with the many changes that the body and emotions undergo both during pregnancy and after the birth itself by:.
- promoting general relaxation, reducing stress and improving circulation for both both mother and baby
- alleviating back, neck and shoulder pain and sciatica
- helping reduce the effects of oedema, especially in swollen ankles and legs
- promoting pelvic floor healing and rebalancing the pelvis and spine
- facilitating healing after a caesarian, and helping restore and normalize abdominal structures)
Massage aids your recovery and rehabilitation.
My particular area of interest is the use of massage to accelerate and improve healing and recovery after injury, surgery or illness; massage can usually reduce pain and discomfort and help restore optimum movement and function. Significant improvement can often be made even many years after the original injury or surgery.
Use massage to keep your body and mind balanced and healthy
However, if you do not have any particular problem areas and want a general, relaxing massage, that is fine too. Keeping the body relaxed and balanced is an excellent way of preventing the tension patterns that lead to structural imbalance, increased wear and tear of the joints, and possibly injury.
Modern lifestyles are increasingly busy and demanding, often leading to feelings of tension, anxiety and stress; massage is also the perfect way relax, release tension and bring the mind and body back to a state of balance and harmony. Prevention is always better than cure.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
“Helen Hunter has been my massage therapist for 13 years now. She has a wonderful ability and instinct . She has treated me for sports injuries, a compacted hip and just helped me to relax with de-stressing massages. I first met her while she was teaching at the London College of Massage. She is experienced, professional and knowledgeable about her subject and always makes me feel completely at ease with her individually created treatments. I highly recommend Helen to you".
-Richard Hope, Actor
“Helen took time to understand what I needed from my massage and not only solved my neck and shoulder problems, but also gave me the most relaxing, de-stressing massages after which I was floating around in a delightful state. She is definitely my go-to person for injury-related needs or simply for relaxation.”
-Vicky Pilcher, Sales & Marketing Manager, London W5
“I can honestly say I sometimes go into a massage with Helen literally in pieces but I always come out feeling like I've been put back together by her healing hands (and elbows!). Whether it's been a frantic day at work, or maybe a stressful night with the kids (I have two under 5’s), within the first few minutes everything is literally washing away and I am free from the outside world. I have tried many therapies for back pain and general stresses of everyday life and none of them come near to the work Helen does."
