Clinical Reflexology
A relaxing treatment given by applying massage to the reflex points on the feet, hands or ears. Following a full medical consultation, specific areas will be given extra attention according to the symptoms that your body is struggling with. Reflexology helps the body to rebalance itself and restore health to the whole body. It helps the body to relax deeply and may therefore help to alleviate some of the symptoms of stress and may improve sleep problems. A gentle treatment lasting for about 50 minutes.
Therapeutic Massage Massage treats the soft tissues and muscles of the body with various hands-on techniques, chosen to suit your individual needs.
Some clients need a gentle relaxing massage and others require a deep tissue, therapeutic treatment to relieve specific muscle pain and tightness.
Everyday stresses and emotional tensions can manifext in headaches, caused by a stiff neck and tension in the shoulders, as the body tightens in response to stressful situations. Massage can also be helpful to people who are struggling with emotional and mental health problems such as grief and depression.
Therapeutic massage benefits both mind and body in people of all ages as they relax during the treatment.
Clinical Aromatherapy
A personalized blend of essential oils will be created following a detailed medical history. This will then be used to treat various conditions by being blended with a carrier oil and massaged into the body or using steam inhalation, a compress or a bath foam or body lotion. Essential oils are extremely potent and can treat a variety of conditions, helping the body to return to it's natural balanced state. A massage can last from 30 to 60 minutes and personalized products can be purchased for continued use at home.
Manicures and Massage for the Elderly
I specialise in hand massage and manicure treatments for the elderly and those with dementia. I have over 4 years experience with such clients. I use an individually tailored treatment for each client, and adjust the length of the treatment and the pressure used for a massage, during the treatment, according to the individual's needs.
I offer various services from a simple cut, clean and file, or a file and polish, to a full manicure with hand/arm massage, or a deluxe manicure incorporating either hand reflexology or an aromatherapy massage.
I am happy to come to a nursing or care home to provide treatments for several residents, on a regular basis, if required. I hold a current CRB check and am fully insured.
About Me
I have undergone extensive training and hold an honours degree in Complementary Therapies Studies, which included over 100 hours of case study treatments in Aromatherapy and Reflexology. It also covered anatomy and physiology, nutrition, pathology and biochemistry as well as energy, health and well-being, cognitive behavioural approaches and the management of pain. I have been qualified and in private practice since 2010.
This in depth knowledge enables me to create a personalized treatment plan according to your needs. This may include using a blend of essential oils to help the body to rebalance itself and encourage the body to heal itself or combining different treatments to treat your symptoms.
I have experience with providing treatments for those with depression, anxiety and stress related conditions. Both Aromatherapy and Reflexology are very relaxing treatments and it has been clinically proven that relaxation can help provide relief from stress. I also have experience treating clients with many different medical conditions including fibromyalgia, motor neurone disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, dementia, post viral fatigue, migraine, back pain, neck pain, kidney problems, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), hormone imbalances and many others. Many of my clients have been amazed that their symptoms have improved or reduced by the use of Clinical Complementary Therapy treatments.
I also hold a VTCT Level 2 qualification in Make Up and Manicure. I currently work closely with many elderly residents in nursing homes in Burton on Trent and Derbyshire and have many years of experience of giving treatments to people with dementia. I have created a specialist manicure and hand massage treatment that can incorporate Aromatherapy Essential Oils and a very gentle massage which is very calming and relaxing for those with dementia. The feeling of being pampered and being touched is especially beneficial for elderly clients.
I am a member of the Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioners Association (MAAPA) and am covered by Holistic Insurance Services' professional liability and public liability insurance. I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and adhere to their policies and procedures.
