Hypnosis is a state of human consciousness involving focusedattention and reduced peripheral awareness and an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion. Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is simply therapy applied whilst in the state of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy can help you to change old and ingrained habits and remove phobias and irrational fears. Experiences rooted in the past that are currently affecting your life in a negative way can be re-framed into a more positive way. In my clinic I use a wide range of disciplines to in approaching to bring about lasting relief from your problem. Therefore whatever your presenting issue is, a multi-disciplinary approach is taken, including Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypno-Counselling, and Enhanced Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. This approach has proven to be highly successful in the treatment of both psychological and physical
problems. Hypo-psychotherapy
Hypo-psychotherapy is an extension of hypnotherapy into the realms of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy can help you make sense of the emotions that are controlling you and the experiences that trigger them. It can assist you to understand and resolve conflicts and anxieties, thereby strengthening you ability to cope. What can I expect from therapy
This depends what you wish to have treatment for. In the case of Quit Smoking, Weight Loss, one or two sessions of Suggestion Therapy is required. However, if you have more deeply seated issues which are causing you anxiety, analytical hypnotherapy is indicated. This involves looking towards the route cause of the issue and releasing the emotional attachment to that cause. Once that has been achieved the root cause can no longer have the same emotional control over the mind. It is a very liberating experience. Analysis and Psychotherapy carried out in the hypnotic state is a much quicker process. This is because hypnosis allows the mind to by-pass the critical factor. The therapist works on the subconscious mind which is the seat of the emotions. It is emotions which cause the problems and it is only the emotions which can let go of it. Anxiety
It is important to note that anxiety and fear are different. Whilst fear is directed at a tangible outside object, general anxiety is internal and without any particular outer focus. This is why it is called ‘freefloating’. For this reason clients have difficulty identifying what they are anxious about. Clients often have this sense of foreboding, that something bad is going to happen and this can lie heavy on the persons’s emotional and physical well-being. There are many contributing factors which cause this condition to emerge. One of them may be linked to having a traumatic event in one’s life, such as bereavement, or abuse of some kind. This effect of such trauma is that the ‘threshold’ for tolerance of everyday stresses is much reduced in such people and they see potential danger in situations other people will not perceive as a situation to be anxious about.
The aim of therapy is to firstly re-adjust the threshold to a level whereby the client is better able to deal with everyday situations and not perceive them as dangerous. The other aim is to help the client develop coping strategies to stop the ruminating thoughts take over the mind and to replace them with more benevolent ones. This gives a sense of control to the client, that they can control their thoughts and choose ones that will be more favourable.
In addition to this the client will undergo hypo-psychotherapy to address the cause of his or or anxiety. This will entail regressing back to the traumatic situations which triggered the free-floating fear to enter the psyche. With the help of an experienced therapist the client is encouraged to work through these often suppressed emotions linked with the trauma and to release the anxiety connected to this. This is where the client can finally find freedom to move on from past traumatising events and to live their lives in a more authentic manner.
If you are suffering from insomnia, ceaseless worrying, sweating and palpitations, abdominal discomfort, feelings of detachment or outside of one’s body, dizziness, hopelessness, you may be suffering from Generalised Anxiety. Social Anxiety
Feeling nervous in a social situation is normal and many people worry about such things as public speaking, talking to authority figures, feelings of shyness or lacking in confidence. However. for some people, such feelings may be more troubling and difficult to cope with. Everyday activities, such as working, socialising, shopping or even being on the phone can create an anxiety to such an extent that it causes avoidance. Anxiety about being judged or criticised can create uncomfortable feelings which can lead to low self-esteem. This makes situations such as public performances and social gatherings to difficult to bear.
Otherwise known as social phobia, sufferers tend to experience excessive feelings of nervousness or dread in relation to those social situations. Physical symptoms such as sweating, palpitations,
blushing or trembling, may also be experienced. At an extreme level, the sufferer may also experience hypersensitivity to criticism, avoidant behaviour , be very self-conscious and a deep insecurity of being rejected by others.
For sufferers it is important to seek professional help from an empathic and experienced therapist. Here at the clinic, a combination of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural therapy is employed to help regain confidence and enjoyment in social situations.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessions are involuntary negative thoughts, images or impulses, occurring over and over in the mind. Compulsions are the behaviours, often accompanied by the obsessive thoughts, which the person feels compelled to act out. Phobias
A phobia is an irrational fear directed against an object, activity or situation. This can be accompanied by a panic attack when facing the object of that fear. The phobia can then lead to a range of behaviours, including avoidance behaviour, difficulty breathing, intense anxiety and feeling completely out of control. Stop Smoking
If you have tried to quit the habit and have found that you are motivated but lack the will-power to do so, hypnosis has been found to be the most successful way to break the habit. Lose Weight
Carrying around unwanted weight not only makes the person feel bad about their appearance, it can also cause a range of health issues, such as diabetes, joint problems. high blood pressure and heart disease. However, there are so many emotional issues attached to over-eating and comforting eating, along with feelings of guilt and low self-esteem.
