When you need someone to talk to...
About Us I am an experienced psychological therapist offering support for issues which include:
- Relationship difficulties
- Eating disorders
- Depression & Anxiety
- Low self-esteem
I have a degree in English & Politics and a background in teaching. I have an advanced diploma in eating disorders and a certificate in obesity management. I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (2001) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from the University of Birmingham.
I have experience in the voluntary sector and in private practice. I have also worked in a counselling agency overseas. I see clients at my home in Long Crendon and at The Practice in Thame. Both addresses offer easy access for Aylesbury and Oxford. I work within the ethical framework of BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists).
COUNSELLING is a professional service which respects the differences of belief, background and gender. Sessions are conducted on a confidential basis and usually take place weekly. Each session lasts fifty minutes (the therapeutic hour).
Counselling aims to empower individuals to make their own decisions; it is not normally about giving advice or acting on their behalf.
How do I work?
Initial contact
During our initial contact, I try to understand some of the issues that you may be coping with in more detail. By gaining this information on the telephone I am then able to make better use of the time available to us at our first session.
Making Appointments
Our first session provides the opportunity to gain a better understanding of your needs and to see if we can work together. Whilst there is no obligation for further sessions, once we have both agreed that counselling is appropriate I recommend that we schedule future appointments.
I can offer flexible appointments to fit with work schedules or business commitments conveniently situated in Thame town centre or in a village setting in Long Crendon.
Confidentiality
I work within the ethical framework of BACP.
Clients will be assured that all information is confidential.
