What is Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine that has been practised by many civilisations for over two thousand years. There are now over 3 million practitioners world wide.
Clinical studies have shown that acupuncture can, alone or in partnership with orthodox medicine, treat a wide range of physical injuries, illness and causes of pain together with many psychological problems. It is a very safe treatment in properly qualified hands.
Traditional acupuncturists like myself take an holistic and whole body approach, recognising that many problems involve both physical and emotional issues, requiring an individually created treatment for each patient.
Does it hurt?
It is a surprisingly gentle treatment; the needles used are much finer than those used for injections. The sensation felt is often a slightly dull ache or a warm glow as the needle reaches a point just below the surface of the skin.
What will happen?
At the first consultation I will have a relaxed discussion with you about your lifestyle, medical history and current problems. I will also examine your tongue and take your pulse to help with diagnosis.
I will explain the nature of the treatment I propose and with your agreement I will start the treatment immediately. The first consultation will last about 90 minutes.
Subsequent sessions will start with a brief review of progress and further treatment.
About Jackie Turner

I am married and live in Inkberrow, Worcestershire and started my career in orthodox medicine where I became a technical advisor to doctors during clinical trials.
Although I have always worked in healthcare my philosophy is that life is to be enjoyed and that there are no good or bad foods or drinks or lifestyles. What is important for every individual is to find the right balance - a balance which is vital for optimum health and happiness.
I became interested in acupuncture and completed my degree in the subject, following which I have been in practice for over 15 years. I am a tutor for one of the top acupuncture colleges in the UK and am a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
As well as being highly experienced as an acupuncturist and in life, I am also a qualified herbalist.
