My name is Jane Edwards and I am a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher. I trained at St.Austell College, Cornwall. Each level of Reiki took 10-12 weeks(evening class) to complete. It gave me the time to embrace and absorb Reiki, and to understand how to work with different energies, and my own awareness. I was told on the first evening that Reiki would change my life, and I can say now that it absolutely has but only for the better. I have the privilege of being able to help people and make a difference through this wonderful healing energy force.

What is Usui Reiki Healing?
Reiki (Ray-key) means Universal Life Force Energy. It is a Complementary hands-on healing energy force, re-discovered by Dr.Mikao Usui in the late 1880’s.
The difference between Usui Reiki and other types of energy healing is the hand positions. These were devised by Dr.Hayashi- Dr.Usui’s named successor- and were designed to work with, and for, the Endocrine system that controls hormones, metabolism, etc and the seven main Chakras of the body.
Therefore every aspect of you receives healing where it is needed-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. These four aspects need to be in harmony for you to be truly healthy and happy. Usui Reiki does not just treat the site of complaint; it treats the whole.
What to expect from a Reiki Treatment
During a Reiki treatment the client lies on the treatment table fully clothed, except for outerwear, shoes and magnetic or heavy jewellery. Energy is channelled through the practitioners’ hands which are placed on or just above the client. You may feel heat or a tingling sensation from the practitioners’ hands, and have a relaxed, peaceful feeling. Every Reiki treatment is a different experience and works towards helping your health improve.
Medical and Scientific Research
There is in-depth medical and scientific research from the 1980’s that proves beyond doubt that Reiki is a healing force.
Independent research by Drs Robert Becker and John Zimmerman investigated what happens whilst people practise Reiki.
They found that not only do the brainwave patterns of practitioners and receivers become synchronised in the alpha state, which is characteristic of deep relaxation and meditation, but also that they pulse in unison with the earths magnetic field, known as the Schuman Resonance.
During these moments, the bio-magnetic field of the practitioners hands is at least 1000 times greater than normal, and it is not as a result of internal body current. Toni Bunnell(1997) suggests that the linking of energy fields between practitioner and earth allows that practitioner to draw on the ‘infinite energy source’ or ‘universal energy field’ via the Schuman Resonance.
Zimmerman(1990) in the USA and Seto(1992) in Japan carried out further investigations into the large, pulsating bio-magnetic field that is emitted from the hands of Reiki energy practitioners whilst they work.
They discovered that the pulses are in the same frequencies as brain waves, sweeping up and down from 0.3-30Hz, focusing mostly in 7-8Hz, alpha state.
Independent medical research has shown this range of frequencies will stimulate healing in the body. Specific frequencies being suitable for different tissues, bones etc.
For example: 2Hz encourages nerve regeneration, 7Hz bone growth, 10Hz ligament mending and 15Hz capillary formation.
