About Acupuncture - Who Benefits from Acupuncture?
Commonly treated conditions according to World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) include breathing difficulties, digestive problems, disorders of the nervous system and painful mensuration. An extensive review of studies has shown that acupuncture has been proven successful in:
- Neruological and Muscular Pain: Examples of pain producing conditions that respond favourably to acupuncture include arthritis, myofacscail pain syndrome, dental pain, neck and low back pain, sciatica , carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia.
- headaches and migraines
- nausea associated with chemotherapy
- substance abuse problems, such as those related to cocaine, heroine and nicotine.
- Respiratory: Asthma, hay fevers, allergies, bronchitis, sore throat, sinusitis, respiratory problems
- Digestive disorders: IBS, constipation, diarrhoea, ulcerative collitis
- Gynaecology: infertility, PMT and menstrual problems, menopause, impotence
- Urogenital disease: cystitis
- Dermatology: skin conditions, eczema, urticaria
- Addiction: smoking, drugs and alcohol addiction, weight reduction
- Mental & emotional illness: Tension, stress, insomnia, depression, anxiety & panic attack, lack of energy, Chronic fatigue syndrome, M.E.
- Tinnitus and other problems not relieved by conventional medicine
Whilst it is not being suggested that Acupuncture provides a cure for all problems, there is sufficient evidence that, if appropriately used, it can successfully complement conventional treatments to provide the best healthcare available.
Additional benefits are faster recovery from injuries, decreased symptoms of stress and improved circulation. It benefits the strengthening of the immune system which through treatment is better able to withstand colds, minor infections and flu.
Acupuncture treats both the physical presentation and the underlying cause. There is evidence in Science that mind and body are connected. Acupuncture is a medicine that focuses on the individual as a whole, rather than just the symptoms or condition in isolation, to restore health and well being. It restores our innate healing abilities that often became exhausted through a number of factors like, living a life of excess, drinking too much, excessive emotional reactions, working too hard. Balance in all things is considered the key to good health and long life. Acupuncture's main strength is the ability to encourage significant change, through holistic approach to health.
Aromatherapy - Your New Path To Health and Fitness
My interest in Complementary Therapies and the belief that everyone has the ability within to heal oneself has led me to fulfil a desire within me. Discovering ways to help me feel better about myself, I am inspired to help you feel good about yourself. ‘As you think, so you become….’ Therefore, as you feel, so you are.
A great deal of research has shown how mind and body respond to each other, demonstrating that emotional and psychological states translate into altered responses in the chemical balances of the body, particularly in the immune system. Just as the immune system is affected by psycho/emotional states, so other parts of our bodies, such as the circulatory, digestive and nervous systems, are equally effected, thus determining our overall states of health.
Tuina - Chinese Bodywork Massage Therapy
What is Tuina?
An ancient healing Art originated in China since 2,000 years, based on the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of QI (lifeforce energy) through the Meridians or energy pathways in the body. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques, Tuina seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi through the system of channels and collaterals, allowing the body to naturally heal itself.
How does it differ from other Massages?
Tuina differs from other forms of massage with the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons) of the body, acupressure techniques to directly effect the flow of Qi, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships (bone-setting). Herbal compresses, ligaments or salves maybe used to enhance the other therapeutic methods.
My aim is to help you achieve a balance state by combining intuitive abilities with a practical and grounded approach, gathering insights and techniques that have helped me with my own healing.
