If anything is 'not right', from a physical condition to an emotional issue, then Health Kinesiology might be a useful approach for you.

'A powerful yet gentle holistic approach to achieving optimum wellbeing'

Too often we live at a sub-optimum level of health, not realising how we could be: “Through Health Kinesiology a person can become who they were designed to be.” Jimmy Scott PhD

The body has an amazing ability to heal itself, given the right tools to do so. In Health Kinesiology we re-balance the body's energy system to allow the body to heal.

What is HK?

Health Kinesiology is holistic and works at the body and mind’s energy level.

Everything is energy, at the most fundamental level, from our bodies and the ‘physical world’ around us to our emotions and thoughts.

It makes sense then to work with the energy in our bodies and minds to holistically address any issues we may have.

A holistic approach is the treating of the whole person, taking into account psychological, physical, social and environmental factors, rather than addressing just the symptoms of a disease.

In a session I will ask the body questions by muscle testing. This can be done with any muscle but we usually use the brachioradialis in the lower arm. This is easy to use when the client is lying down. A gentle pressure is applied – if the arm stays strong (the energy circuit is strong) it is a positive answer; if it goes weak (the energy circuit has been broken) it is a negative answer. In this way I ascertain, through using a menu of options, what work we need to do.

The corrections we do in a session involve setting up a ‘stressor’, be it thinking a thought pattern, applying magnets in particular places, placing an allergen on a specific place on the body, thinking and ‘being in’ a situation and many more possibilities. Whilst this is happening we hold acupoints (part of the meridian system, from ancient Chinese medicine). Unlike in acupuncture, we don’t use needles, we just hold the points. This resets the body/mind so that the stressor is no longer a problem.

Sometimes there is work to do at home after the session; this can involve addressing aspects of nutrition and lifestyle, or for example carrying out affirmations.

The work is very powerful, but gentle and works with your body/mind to heal and achieve optimum health and wellbeing. Sometimes results are dramatic and sometimes they take longer and are more subtle - this will be
how your body can best deal with the healing process.

Treatments

Sessions last approximately 1 hour, although the first one may be slightly longer as we will discuss what you want to achieve.

Treatment 1The session involves lying on a couch while I muscle test to work out what work we need to do to rebalance your system and help you to achieve optimum health and wellbeing. We will carry out corrections in the session and also sometimes give you work to do at home. It is all carried out at a pace your body can cope with and in the correct priority order for your body. It is gentle, but very powerful.

In terms of the number of sessions you will require to work on a particular issue, this is something I will ask your body through muscle testing and it can be quite variable. We have to wait for a time between sessions to let the work process, and again this time period will be tested for.

Disclaimer
I understand that kinesiologists do not give medical diagnoses or treatment, and that it is my responsibility to consult my GP about any medical problem that I am aware of or become alerted to in the course of a kinesiology session.

I understand that is it my responsibility to decide whether to undertake any suggestion a HK practitioner gives, and the practitioner is not to be held accountable for the client’s decisions. I may wish to contact my health care provider (GP) before supplementing my diet, especially if I am currently under medical supervision, taking medication for any condition, due to have surgery, are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.

About Me

I grew up thinking and questioning. This has brought me to where I am now in my life, and in the area of health has led to these questions:

What is the best that can be done for a client?

What is really going to address the client's issues to support them and create optimum wellbeing?

This underpins the work I do.

My desire would be for a client to have all the best options available to them. I would like healthcare to be truly integrated.

My background, prior to this work, is Environmental Science and Ecology. I see many interesting similarities between this and human health. Both should involve the whole system, which has many complex interactions. If an ecosystem is out of balance, it will it will display symptoms of ill health - in the same way that a human will. The key is to keep the system, the 'terrain', healthy.1

To take a simple ecological example:
Wilted plantIf a plant's leaves are looking wilted, what approach would we take to making the plant healthy again? Look at the whole plant and its environment, holistically. The best solution may well be to water it. This holistic approach takes account of the plant as a whole, rather than just focusing on the leaves and thinking what we could do to make them less wilted. It would be the most appropriate course of action for the plant as a whole and it does not cause any negative effects for the plant or the surrounding area (soil etc).

And a more complex one:
Eutrophic and healthy lakesImbalances in the natural environment (pollution for example) can cause ill health for the area and sometimes, for example, excessive growth of particular plants which are tolerant of these conditions. The system is unstable and not healthy. To rectify the situation you would not just remove the obvious symptom (the excessive growth of plants for example) but you would look to remove the pollution inputs, rebalance the acidity and oxygen levels in the environment and so on. This would lead to a re-balance of the whole environment; the plants, animals and physical environment.

I see the same situation for the health and wellbeing of a person. Address the situation holistically and restore the balance of the body's 'terrain' - this will address causes of ill health.

In my work I aim to:
  • Assist the body to heal itself by giving it the right tools and correcting imbalances at the energy level.
  • Address root causes. Work with the client's body and mind as a whole (holistically).
  • Work at a pace that the client can deal with and in the correct priority order for the client (this is achieved through the use of muscle testing in sessions to find what work we are going to do).
  • See the benefits of and links between a range of approaches to achieving optimum wellbeing.
I personally became aware of Health Kinesiology a few years ago when I was a client myself. Through this and seeing the amazing results it had on other people, I decided to train to become a practitioner.
