WELCOME My passion is to provide high quality bodywork for each person's individual needs, with a focus on the cause rather than just the symptoms of your problem. I believe in continually developing my skills to learn more about the body and to find even more effective ways of helping the body to heal, using techniques that feel good to the client.
I do not subscribe to the view that a massage therapist has to press hard enough to cause pain for the muscle tension to go away. Sinking slowly into the tissues and working with the body rather than against the body, is not only far more comfortable for you the client, it is also more effective, as deeper work is easier with more relaxed tissues.
Massage therapy can be used to complement traditional medical treatments to help improve quality of life and bring comfort to people living with certain chronic conditions. If you are looking to improve mobility, reduce pain and prevent further injury, a combination of Advanced Clinical Massage techniques including Myofascial Release, with a sensitive touch can be used to address your individual needs.
For those who wish to take 'time out' and reduce the effects of stress on their body, a range of massage therapies can be provided to promote relaxation.
Whether you are retired or a young parent, an accountant or creative designer, you can be assured of a warm welcome.
How can Advanced Clinical Massage help?
Advanced Clinical Massage uses a combination of the best eastern and western massage techniques to soften and release the tight muscles and fascia. After massage, my clients have usually noticed a reduction in pain and an improvement in their range of movement.
Massages are outcome based and are tailored to the needs of the individual. Depending on the outcome you desire, your treatment plan may require between 2 - 6 weekly sessions to achieve the best long term results for you. Techniques include:
Ammafusion - a blend of eastern techniques to balance your body, drawn from disciplines such as acupressure and table shiatsu.
Myofascial Release - a gentle hands-on technique to release the connective tissue which links all parts of the body, helping to restore structural imbalances.
Power Effleurage - to warm, soften and release muscles.
Trigger Point Therapy - Trigger points are points of tenderness in muscles and soft tissue, which may radiate pain. Gentle static pressure is applied to release these knots. I work in communication with you at all times, assessing discomfort on a pain scale of 0 - 10, where I work no higher than 6-7. Clients usually feel very relaxed during a session.
Stretching – a variety of stretches will be used to enhance your treatment. You will also be taught stretches to continue at home, to achieve the best results possible.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a gentle and natural therapy used since the time of the Ancient Egyptians. Reflex areas on the feet (and hands) correspond to every part, organ and gland of the body. Through applying pressure with thumbs and fingers on these reflex points, your whole body can be treated and encouraged to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. Regular sessions of reflexology can help to maintain and improve your physical and mental well-being, helping you cope better with life by lessening the effect of stress on your body.
Benefits:- alleviates stress and tension
- induces deep relaxation
- improves circulation
- cleanses your body of toxins and impurities
- boosts your immune system
- restores and maintains your body's natural equilibrium
- improves your energy levels
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy works with the pure properties of plants, using their essential oils to help improve your physical and emotional well being, especially when applied through massage.
After consulting with you, a few aromatherapy oils will be specially chosen and blended to meet your needs on the day. The essential oils are diluted with pure grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil before applying them to your skin with a gentle relaxing massage. The skin absorbs the oils, which are carried round the body in the blood stream. Aromatherapy oils can help a number of conditions such as stress, muscle aches, digestive issues, anxiety, insomnia and infections. According to the oils used, you will feel uplifted or deeply relaxed at the end of your treatment.
Benefits - provides relief from stress and tension
- a feeling of deep relaxation and calm
- stimulates your immune system
- improved blood and lymph circulation
- a general sense of well being
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years as an integral part of family and every day life. The aim is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, scalp, neck, shoulders, arms and upper back. The therapist uses a range of movements including kneading and compression over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas and gentle stimulation and stroking movements on the face. People say they feel calm and relaxed, but also energised and better able to concentrate afterwards.
Benefits - relief from pain and stiffness in the muscles of the face, neck and shoulders
- increased energy levels
- relief from tension headaches, eye strain and nasal congestion
- alleviation of stress, anxiety and lethargy
- greater clarity of thought and concentration
- a sense of tranquility, calmness and well-being
- deeper, calmer breathing
- improved skin condition and colour
- strong, healthy, shiny hair
Acupressure Chair Massage
Seated acupressure massage is based on traditional Japanese techniques. Acupressure or energy points on the head, neck, shoulders, spine and lower back are worked to improve the flow of energy throughout the body and balance the body's muscular, circulatory and nervous systems. Massage techniques to reduce muscle tension in your arms, legs and feet and stretches to enhance your feeling of well-being are also included. Each session will focus on your specific needs at the time. You can expect to feel relaxed, refreshed and energised afterwards.
Benefits: - relieves stress and tension
- feel energised and refreshed
- encourages tight, knotted muscles to loosen up
- can help with backache, repetitive strain injury, headaches, fatigue, pain and anxiety
Massage for those with Autism and Learning Difficulties
Your care home for Adults with Learning Difficulties, Autism and other conditions, can be visited on a weekly basis, to provide appropriate massage for the adults who live there. The majority of people prefer foot massage, which I combine with some reflexology to help keep their body in balance. Some people like hand massage and some prefer head, neck and back massage.
The special people I visit often find the massage very calming and relaxing, even when their bodies do not want to slow down. I bring towels and cream with me and adapt the treatment to the mood and activity of the person at the time, whether sitting on a chair or on the floor. A member of staff is always present. The maximum session time per client is often 20 minutes, depending on the client's mood and budget.
I have a recent CRB certificate and have worked in special needs environments for at least three years. People with autism have a special place in my heart. I understand that relationships take time to build and that sometimes people are not interested in massage on the day I visit.
Benefits: - can induce a sense of relaxation and calmness
- can provide valuable physical and emotional contact with client
- can be performed in any setting - a separate room is not required
- may enhance feelings of self-worth
