About Me - Judith Clover
I have been involved with complementary therapies for over 35 years.
In 1986, I qualified as a Teacher of the Alexander Technique after completing a full-time training recognized by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. And in 1997, I became a Registered Craniosacral Therapist.
In 1997, I qualified from The College of Craniosacral Therapy, the most established college in Europe, and have been a Registered Craniosacral Therapist since then
Alexander Technique
I teach individuals of all ages and am extremely experienced in working with people with chronic
pain, back problems, or stress-related symptoms. I also really enjoy working with performers of all kinds - from singers and musicians to dancers and horse-riders, teaching them to apply the Alexander Technique in activity.
I have been teaching Drama Students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama since 1989. And I have taught the Alexander Technique for BBC Wales, the National Assembly of Wales and at various Adult and Community Education Centres in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan, and Wiltshire. In addition, I have run short courses for, among others, Wiltshire County Council, The Drama Association of Wales and the Sherman Theatre.
Most back problems are caused, or worsened, by poor posture, excessive muscular tension, and stress. Practicing the Alexander Techinique helps us improve our awareness of our posture and our movement patterns in all our daily activities. Everyone who studies the Alexander Technique, no matter their age or condition, can benefit. As well as a reduction in pain there can be an improvement in mobility, general health, and well-being. There is also a corresponding improvement in technique and performance, along with a reduction in stress, which is invaluable for performers.
Craniosacral Therapy
My area of interest and expertise is in working with muscular-skeletal problems such as neck and back pain or sciatica. In addition, I have a lot of experience in supporting those with chronic pain or stress-related symptoms as well as those recovering from surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. I do not usually work with babies or very young children but am happy to support mothers through pregnancy.
I am extremely experienced in working with the following conditions:- Back pain, sciatica
- Muscular aches and pains
- Chronic pain
- Chronic fatigue
- Depression and anxiety, stress-related symptoms
- Frozen shoulder
- Migraines, headaches, jaw problem
- Bell's Palsy
Craniosacral Therapy is an extremely gentle and effective 'hands-on' treatment. The touch is extremely light and non-invasive, encouraging a very deep state of relaxation. This deep state of relaxation helps trigger the body's own self-healing mechanisms, relieving symptoms at the deepest level. The client is usually lying on the couch on their back but they can also lie on their side or be treated in a chair. In a treatment, I will lightly cradle your head (cranium) or place my hands at the base of your spine (sacrum) or on the shoulders or ankles.
Craniosacral Therapy is safe and beneficial for people of all ages and states of health. Indeed, it is often appropriate when other therapies may be unsafe, such as during pregnancy, or after an operation, accident, or injury. It can offer great benefit to those going through chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
