About Me I am a qualified social worker and spent most of my working life as a social worker until 2000 when I took early retirement. I started a 4 year course in counselling and psychotherapy with a spiritual dimension in 1986 and came into contact with healing energy which excited and fascinated me, so I decided to learn as much as I could and enrolled with the Rowan School in 1994.
I spent three years studying healing and personal development. Though the Rowan School of Healing no longer exists, I still do courses in chakra psychology and channelling with Delcia McNeil, the founder.
I wanted to explore healing further so I did training in Reiki parts 1 and 2 at the North London Buddhist Centre in 2006 and in 2009 did a course in healing with crystals.
I have been inspired in my work with travels to the far East including India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, china, Vietnam and Nepal, where I have done courses in traditional Chinese medicine and ayurvedic massage.
I have particular interest in helping people with serious health problems such as anxiety and depression, physical and emotional pain, and life threatening diseases such as cancer. I have been a volunteer with a cancer support drop-in since 2006 doing massage, Indian Head Massage, reflexology and healing. I use healing energy in all my work.
I also worked with a carers' group giving reflexology to carers. Apart from therapeutic work, I also give beauty treatment massage for general relaxation and indulgence for brides-to-be, groups of women friends for indulgence evenings or people who just want to give themselves a treat.
I constantly refresh and update my skills by attending courses and Groups and earning points for continuous professional development. I am currently doing a Macmillan Cancer Support Course over 8 months aimed at helping people work with cancer sufferers.
My Interests include reading, gardening, art, music and film. I meditate regularly and teach meditation and relaxation on an informal basis. I have been a director of the Enfield Centre for Natural Health since 1984, a group which is committed to the integration of complementary therapies into the NHS.
I am fully insured for all my therapies.
Therapies Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic treatment based on the principle that reflex points on the feet are connected to corresponding areas in the body. The feet can be seen as a map of the body.
The reflexologist uses specialised massage techniques on the feet, helping to correct imbalances throughout the body and help release blocked energy.
The treatment induces feelings of deep relaxation and increased energy levels, and can help relieve pain and support the immune system by helping to remove impurities and toxins.
Baby Massage
I qualified as a baby massage instructor with the International Association for infant massage in 2001.
This was inspired by visiting countries in the Far East where even the poorest mothers massage their babies from birth. I run courses for groups of parents and their babies from birth to crawling, for one hour a week for 5-6 weeks. I also do individual sessions.
Healing
Healing is a process through which a person's life force is activated and enhanced by the channelling of universal energy. I aspire to have love and compassion at the centre of all my therapies. Healing is a wonderful relaxing experience which can be performed anywhere - lying on a couch or bed or seated in a chair, without the need to remove clothing.
Massage
Massage positively affects the well-being of an individual through relaxation of both the mind and the muscles. Holistic massage is very gentle. As muscular tension is released, the mind becomes calmer and the body becomes even more relaxed. Massage is nourishing on every level, body, mind and spirit.
I use ready-prepared synergies of massage oils or single oils of your choice in a natural organic base oil, usually sweet almond or grapeseed.
Teaching
I taught an introduction to complementary therapy at Barnet College in 2003.
This consisted of 2 sessions of Healing, Indian Head Massage counselling skills and Holistic Massage each.
I also teach introduction to Indian Head Massage workshops for groups up to 12 people in Enfield, either on two evenings over two weeks or one full day at the weekend.
