Welcome to Dalgety Bay Hypnotherapy
Talk To Someone Who Will Really Listen
My name is David Stocks and I am a Professional Clinical Hypnotherapist in Fife, based in Dalgety Bay, so I'm within easy reach of Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kinross and Kirkcaldy. I am a member of the Advisory Council of the National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists, and I am also a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. I am registered with both the General Hypnotherapy Register and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.
I help people who are Anxious, Depressed, Sad, Angry, Jealous and who just can't fix themselves. Many of my clients have Panic Attacks; are trying to Slim but can't stop eating or thinking about food, (including Anorexia and Bulimia) etc.; have Fears and Phobias; suffer from IBS; have relationship problems (jealousy or sexual problems). Many clients have been abused or have been in difficult relationships in the past. They often feel that a parent didn't love them or treat them properly. There are a lot of very unhappy people out there!
There is a reason why you feel the way you feel. Major events in your life you affect you deeply. You hide them in the Short-Term Memory. Using Hypnosis, I help to uncover these events and move them into the Long Term Memory. Instead of feeling the emotions as if the event has just happened, you feel as if it's now in the dim and distant past.
You will also see a link on every page to Testimonials left by my past clients. Any client can leave a comment directly onto this database. What you see is what these people have left: These comments are completely unedited.
There are many people out there who are a bit sceptical of alternative therapies. They want information. This is why I have put so much information into this web site. Unlike many Hypnotherapists in Fife, I take a very logical and scientific approach to my work. I don't believe in "past lives" nor try to connect with spirits, etc.
What Happens In A Session?
Prior to the first session, we have an Initial Consultation (IC). This may take from 90-120 minutes, depending upon the individual. We discuss your problem and possible treatment, and then, if we both agree that hypnosis is the right course, we proceed to the first session. The IC is free and you are under no obligation to continue to a session, (although we'd usually go straight in to the first session that day).
About one in ten of the population are described as "somnambulists". These are people who are very susceptible to Hypnosis and so to Hypnotherapy. The down side is that these people seem to be more prone to certain kinds of anxiety problems in the first place, simply because they are so suggestible. If you were prone to sleepwalking or talking in your sleep, even as a child, then you are likely to be in this group. It's important to understand, though, that everyone can go into hypnosis. That part is very easy - it's what the therapist does then that's takes training. (By the way, I don't use the word "trance" as it conjures up all the wrong images for me. The term "hypnotic sleep" is much nicer - though your'e not asleep, either, as you don't lose any awareness at all.
What happens next is dependent upon the nature of the problem the individual. However, the first session normally concentrates upon learning how to relax properly in hypnosis. We may also begin learning how to do self-hypnosis, where you can put yourself into a hypnotic sleep whenever you feel stressed, etc. Naturally, many clients feel a bit apprehensive before the first session and they tend to stay in a fairly light level of hypnosis. Some clients are desperate for relief, however there's no point in trying to do anything requiring a deep level of hypnosis in the first session, because it probably wouldn't work! There is no sense in having a client feel that somehow he or she has failed or feeling that "it doesn't work for me". I always tell clients not to expect big things from the first session - it is only the first session, after all!

What is Psychotherapy In Hypnosis?
Psychotherapy is a method of uncovering and dealing with traumatic memories. These memories can have a profound effect on how you feel about yourself and about certain situations, usually without you realising it.
To understand what can go wrong, we must first describe how we store memories. The actual workings of the brain, and the complex interactions that convert this biochemical/electrical organ are even now only poorly understood. However, we can best describe it in terms of a simple model.
