Qualified Psychotherapist, Counsellor & Buteyko Teacher
SERVICES
Buteyko breathing teaching; counselling; psychotherapy
About my services Buteyko breathing technique can help people with asthma, COPD, anxiety, panic attacks and many other breathing difficulties to regain a healthier pattern of breathing
I first learnt the Buteyko method from Alexander Stalmatski in 1999, having lived wtih asthma for fifty years - and found it greatly improved my health and symptom control and dramatically reduced my need for medication.
This inspired me to train as a Buteyko teacher, and am a registered practitioner with the Buteyko Breathing Association (BBA); I have taught adults and children, including children with special needs. I offer individual teaching, workshops and talks to groups.
Buteyko is a complementary therapy, recognised in the SIGN guidelines of the British Thoracic Society, and can be used alongside conventional management of breathing problems. There are many clinical trials which support the Buteyko technique for the treatment of asthma.
I previously worked as a qualified nurse, including several years in palliative care, and this background has helped me to see how the way we breathe has a key role in maintaining optimum health and quality of life.
Counselling and psychotherapy
I am a UKCP Registered psychotherapist and BACP Accredited Counsellor, and have worked in health and voluntary sector settings and in private practice for over twenty years.
I have an integrative approach which has built on my initial training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, and have particular experience in working with people who have suffered depression, anxiety, bereavement and trauma.
For more information on Buteyko or counselling/therapy, please feel welcome to telephone to discuss whether this could be a good choice for you.
