How does it work?
All energy therapies are based on the understanding that we are more than just our physical bodies. They are part of an emerging new paradigm in healthcare which includes 'energy medicine' and 'energy psychology' - a paradigm based on Quantum physics and the premise that matter ultimately consists of energy. From this perspective, the physical body is only the material manifestation of a multi-layered energetic structure which is often referred to as the 'aura' or the Human Energy Field. Chinese and Indian traditions have described the subtle structures of our energetic anatomy such as chakras and acupuncture meridians for millenia.
Unresolved difficulties, stresses and trauma can create blockages on any level of the Human Energy Field, which result in spiritual, mental or emotional problems and will ultimately manifest in the physical body as disease. Energy therapies offer us effective tools to identify and dissolve such blockages wherever they occur. They are therefore not only helpful in preventing disease, but also an important means to address the root cause of any existing illness. The natural flow of energy always moves towards health and well-being. Eliminating the causes from the deepest layers up throughout the system allows balance to be restored and enables the body to self-heal.
What are the benefits of Energy Healing, Reiki and EFT?
The benefits experienced range from gaining a deep understanding about ourselves and coming to a loving acceptance of ourselves and others to the resolution of chronic physical and psychological conditions.
As we become aware of our patterns and fully feel and release negative emotions, we are empowered to choose to react to triggers differently and shift into a positive vibration. This allows the Law of Attraction to work for us rather than against us, as we always attract what we focus on, whether it is positive or negative.
Sometimes there can be dramatic improvements in only one or two sessions, especially if EFT is also used, but often the work of self enquiry and healing uncovers issues layer by layer and it is best thought of as a series of sessions that can go beyond your physical health to spiritual evolution and self-realisation.
Energy Healing, EFT and Reiki are holistic therapies which treat the person rather than the symptoms. This means that they can be beneficial in almost any situation. Clients typically seek assistance for the following physical and psychological conditions:
- Chronic Fatigue/ME
- Stress / Anxiety
- Female conditions (fertility problems, menopause, etc.)
- Migraine / Headaches
- Immune System disorders
- Back problems
- Digestive disorders
- Heart conditions
- Support with terminal illness
- Support with chronic illness
- Depression
- Lack of confidence
- Bereavement
- Addiction
- Relationship Problems
- Life traumas and transitions (job loss, abuse, break-ups, miscarriage etc.)
- Manifesting abundance
- Finding your life purpose
- Spiritual emergence / emergency
- Spiritual re-connection
Energy Healing
What is Integrated Energy Healing?
This integrative practice was originally devised by Barbara Brennan (“Hands of Light – A Guide To Healing Through The Human Energy Field” and “Light Emerging”) and combines hands-on-healing with a modern psychotherapeutic approach, drawing elements from person centered counselling, transpersonal psychology and core energetics.
Through the combination of hands-on and dialoguing skills clients are guided to bringing their blockages to light and releasing them. This enables healing on all levels, including physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, mental clarity and even spiritual awakening.
The healer may also guide the client in a process of inner inquiry as to the cause of their condition. This takes the healing deeper and encourages the client to take responsibility for co-creating their own health and wellbeing.
Energy Healing complements and enhances the positive effects of all other types of health care, including orthodox medicine.
Which techniques are used in a healing session?
Most Healing sessions use a combination of several of the following techniques:
- Dialoguing/Inquiry
- Grounding
- Dropping-in (allowing yourself to become aware of and fully feel your feelings)
- Cathartic Release
- Chakra Clearing and Balancing
- Colour and/or Sound Healing
- Emotional Clearing
- Spine and Organ Clearing & Repair
- Healing with Angelic Vibrations
- Astral Healing
- Inner Child Work
- Relationship Cord Healing
- Clearing Ancestral Patterns
- Past Life Regression
- Entity Release
- Intention Alignment (strenghtens connection to Life Purpose)
- Essence Expansion
- Identifying and Clearing Beliefs
- Guided Visualisations/Meditations
- Opening to Guidance
- Conscious Breathing
- EFT (Tapping on Meridian Points)
I tend to also incorporate Reiki into my sessions, simply by connecting to the appropriate Reiki energy frequencies.
What shall I expect in a healing session?
No two healing sessions will ever be the same. They are a co-creative process between healer and client and totally adapted to the client's needs in the moment. However typically, a healing session is structured in the following way:
Awareness A typical session starts with case taking: An initial period of discussion and evaluation to clarify the various issues to be addressed. I will gently guide you in a process of inner enquiry which will uncover the issue to be dealt with in the session. You will be invited to allow the emotions relating to the issue to come up and fully feel them.
Release There are many ways to facilitate this stage. Mostly, it involves hands-on healing using a variety of available techniques. This can include phases of passively receiving energy, use of colour, sound, visualisation, dialoguing and possibly more cathartic emotional release. This part of the session is normally conducted with the client lying down, fully clothed on a therapy table. Where appropriate, I may also use EFT and conscious breathwork in this part of the session, depending on what is needed in each individual case. If we use mainly EFT and Matrix Reimprinting in a session, the client may remain seated throughout the process.
Integration The session is completed with grounding and bringing into consciousness the newly awakened life force. Integration naturally continues after a session and over a period of days, sometimes even weeks or months. The closing of the session may include recommendations on how to make life enhancing changes and choices in your actions and thoughts in the future.
In between and after sessions After a session you may feel exhilerated, lots of people comment that they feel "lighter", liberated or sometimes also a bit "spaced out". Be gentle with yourself, drink plenty of water and allow yourself some time for further integration.
In addition to Energy Healing, I may recommend the use of Flower Essences, especially Orchid Essences, to gently support the healing process between sessions.
In some cases, I also use Dowsing (with the help of a pendulum) or Kinesiology (muscle testing) to establish whether a vibrational remedy may be appropriate to support your healing. Muscle testing can also be used to identify beliefs.
I may also introduce you to some basic Chi Kung and breathing exercises, which are very grounding and support your internal flow of Chi (vital energy). Should you wish to establish a deeper, regular practice of Chi Kung, I can help you with individual lessons or refer you to specialist Chi Kung teachers.
Meditation and visualisation are also used in my sessions and I encourage clients to commit a short daily time slot to experiencing stillness, journal writing or any other kind of self-explorative activity. This really helps to bring issues into awareness so that they can then be worked with and dissolved in your healing sessions. I also teach my clients the basic EFT protocol in order to enable them to "tap" on any issues that come up for them on their own.
In short, everything I do is designed to help clients help themselves. Wherever appropriate, I will teach you a range of exercises, techniques and strategies to enable you to bring your energy system back to balance yourself.
EFT
What is EFT?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is an amazingly simple and effective method to clear blockages of the energy system. It could be described as a kind of psychological acupressure. We tap with our fingertips on various acupuncture points on the face and upper body whilst tuning into our specific problem or issue, which can be physical, mental or emotional, naming the feelings that arise. The action of tapping on these points clears the disruptions in the energy system and balances our energy meridians, restoring harmony. The client experiences this as a rapid dissolving of negative emotions, painful sensations and even physical pain.
What are the benefits of EFT?
EFT is easy to learn and to use to release negative feelings whether they are emotional or physical, and whether they refer to the past, the present or the future. It has been used successfully on a whole range of issues including natural pain relief, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, stress, addictive behaviours, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), weight loss, performance enhancement and many more. It is particularly effective with trauma and any kind of negative memory. Typically, the memory itself will remain intact, but all the negative emotional charge that was stored with it will dissolve, usually permanently.
EFT is also a wonderful means to come into awareness of the patterns and beliefs with which we are limiting ourselves and to release and replace them by more positive, empowering internal messages. Thus it is also a powerful tool to overcome subconscious blocks to healing and to accelerate any process of change and transformation.
EFT can and sometimes does produce instant successes or one-shot wonders. However, long-standing and major physical or emotional problems usually need to be resolved layer by layer and require persistence and a skilled therapist to guide and support the process. I have found that using EFT either as a main therapy tool or in combination with other Energy modalities always accelerates the process of awareness, release and healing. It can be very beneficial to conclude an EFT session with a hands-on healing phase to deepen and integrate the powerful and lasting shifts and changes that have happened. Because it is so easy to learn I invite my clients to learn the basic EFT routine themselves, so they can have this incredible tool “at their fingertips” whenever needed – it’s truly empowering!
Reiki
What is Reiki?
What we term today as Reiki was traditionally known as 'The Usui System of Natural Healing' or Usui-do (The Way Of Usui), developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 1900s.
Reiki is a Japanese term actually consisting of two words with varying interpretations: Rei - Universal energy outside all living things, the highest spiritual consciousness, one could also call it Divine consciousness. My personal interpretation sees this as the "Father" energy – corresponding to the Yang Principle. Ki - Life force energy, inside all living things, surrounds all living things, earthier frequency than Rei energy. In my interpretation this would correspond to the "Mother" energy – the Yin Principle. Only Rei and Ki combined make the whole - Yin and Yang combined, the Universal Life Force.
Mikao Usui developed the Reiki system as a path for spiritual development and for natural healing.
How does it work?
In many Eastern traditions, Ki, also known as Chi in China or Prana in India is believed to need to flow freely throughout the body for optimal emotional and physical health. If we suffer spiritual, emotional or physical trauma, the flow of Ki becomes blocked, causing illness to develop. The healthier someone is, the more Ki they will have flowing through their body.
Reiki works to dissolve the energy blockages in the body and thus allows the body to restore itself back to health, along with gently healing trauma on any level (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) and even across time, as the energy is non-local and transcends time and space. In short, Reiki balances the mind, body and soul. Reiki can be used on any condition and is also a path to spiritual enlightenment if you choose to develop yourself in that way.
How does a Reiki treatment feel?
Receiving a Reiki healing is a deeply relaxing and pleasant experience. The client remains fully clothed and is lying on a therapy couch. Reiki treatments are very gentle and non intrusive, they are equally effective hands-on as well as hands-off, with the practitioner holding their hands a few inches away from the body or even as distant healings across the globe.
Reiki as a path of spiritual development
Reiki is not just a system of natural healing, in fact, now that we have greater access to the original Japanese material, we are learning that Mikao Usui devised it first and foremost as a complete system for spiritual development. Although it is deeply grounded in Buddhist tradition, it is not related to any religious practice, but constitutes a purely spiritual path. A simple way of discerning religious from spiritual practice is that in a religion, followers look at a greater power outside of themselves for help, healing and salvation, whereas those who follow a purely spiritual practice seek to connect to a power within themselves and seek to experience a sense of oneness with all that is. The Reiki system is based on a combination of the following five traditional elements to develop an individual's spiritual connection:
- The five Reiki Precepts (Gokai)
- Conscious Breathing (Kokyu Ho)
- Hands-on Healing (Tenohira)
- Symbols and Mantras (Juman and Shirushi)
- Attunements / empowerments (Reiju)
The five Reiki Precepts
In Buddhism, a precept is a spiritual principle, a rule by which to live your life. The Reiki precepts are very simple, yet all-encompassing principles which should be meditated upon by the practitioner twice a day. The more time you spend pondering these principles, the deeper your understanding of them will grow and the more effortlessly you will be able to integrate them into your daily life. There are may different translations around and I feel most drawn to the simplest version as simplicity seems to best reflect the very spirit of Reiki:
For today only:
- Do not anger
- Do not worry
- Be humble and grateful
- Be honest
- Be compassionate to all living beings
Meditation
What is Meditation, actually
There are so many different meditation and mindfulness techniques and practices that it is difficult to find a short definition. There are thousands of teachers and books about the topic, covering all the different aspects and methods and how you can use them in your life. Let me try to give you a digest in a few lines:
Meditation is …
… becoming still in body and mind. There can also be stillness in motion, for example in Tai Chi, Chi Kung, mindful Yoga or walking meditation. There are even more dynamic meditation techniques, designed to empty out tension through movement to allow body and mind to become still.
… the art of letting go and being instead of doing.
… focussed attention on an anchor such as breath, a physical sensation in the body, a sound (like a mantra, which can be silently repeated or chanted), a mandala or a visualisation.
… to be fully present to the moment, observing one’s emotions and sensations with mindfulness, alertness and without judgement, from moment to moment.
… a mental technique leading to insight, truth and liberation from our cravings and aversion, by allowing us to understand the impermanence of all that is. Through meditation, especially Metta (loving kindness) meditation, we cultivate loving kindness and compassion towards ourselves and all living beings.
… being fully in the NOW.
And here are some quotes from teachers wiser than myself...
"Meditation is to be aware of what is going on in your body, in your feelings, in your mind, and in the world." Thich Nhat Hanh
"Meditation is simply about being yourself and knowing about who that is. It is about coming to realize that you are on a path whether you like it or not, namely the path that is your life." Jon Kabat-Zinn
"Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God." Diana Robinson
Why is it good for me?
There is a vast amount scientific evidence (the Institute of Noetic Sciences lists over 6000 abstracts of peer reviewed and published studies on the effect of meditation in its searchable online database) that daily meditation or mindfulness practice offers benefits on all levels of the human existence: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Why? Simply because during your periods of practice, you are training your body to be fully accepting of yourself in this moment as it is - no judgement, no resistance (even if you resist, you acknowledge and accept the resistance) and no craving for something else. In that moment, as you are in the NOW, your body and mind switch from the fight and flight response to the relaxation response. This switch triggers many hormonal and metabolic changes, which in turn create a beneficial effect on many different organ systems. Different types of meditation have been researched to different degrees, but in short, some of the benefits are:
- increased ability to focus and concentrate
- better memory, increased mental clarity,
- lowers symptoms of ADHD and depression
- relaxation, improved stress resilience, alleviates anxiety
- lowers high blood pressure,
- reduces plaque and inflammation in hardened and congested arteries
- strengthens the immune system and body’s self-repair mechanisms
- improves digestion and alleviates digestive disorders
- can prevent diabetes and helps to lose weight
- alleviates chronic pain, especially tension headaches and back pain
- helps with PMS and during menopause
- alleviates insomnia
Beyond the physical benefits, regular meditators also experience an increased ability to stay calm in all of life’s challenges and an increased ability to be happy, grateful, forgiving and compassionate. Ultimately, meditation can be a powerful tool on your path to discovering your spiritual self.
The effect of daily practice is cumulative: over time, you will be able to experience the benefits not only during your periods of practice, but throughout your everyday life.

About your Practitioner
Andrea Klein
Who am I?
This question - the search for my true self - led through many professional and personal reinventions: From linguist to advertising executive to film rights trader to holistic practitioner, from party girl to earth mother, from 80s hedonism to a deep commitment to political activism, teaching and healing.
I first discovered Energy Healing as a client. Born and raised in Germany, I settled in London in the early nineties and built a successful career in the Film Business. Despite all outward success, I kept creating great suffering in my personal life by repeating destructive relationship patterns over and over. It was my encounter with a Reiki healer and my attunements to Reiki Levels I and II, which enabled me to heal myself enough to feel ready for a committed personal relationship and motherhood.
The home birth of my son, a breech baby, was a rite of passage empowering me to trust my instincts at the deepest level. It was at this moment that I became aware of my deep longing to serve as a healer.
Motivated by the desire to find a therapy modality that I could totally embody, I conducted further research on alternative methods of healing. This is how I came across Barbara Brennan’s work and The School of Energy Healing.
I started the 3 year professional training course in 2007 and graduated with a Diploma in Integrated Energy Healing in June 2010. To seal my life commitment to healing, I also underwent the Reiki Master/Teacher attunement at the same time. Fascinated by the seemingly unlimited potential of energy healing modalities, I actively engage in Continuous Professional Development and completed the EFT Practitioner Training in spring 2011. I now incorporate elements of Quantum Touch, EFT and Matrix Reimprinting into my sessions, with some amazing results. For the last couple of years, I have been a student of Joe Dispenza and attended his advanced retreat in Mexico in June 2021.
My own healing journey was truly transformational and life-changing: I faced the challenge of diving into the depths of my own woundings and felt the liberation and joy that comes from revealing and lovingly accepting all aspects of myself, the shadow and the light.
The study of Reichian psychotherapy character types led me to identify my own defence mechanisms, built up from earliest childhood or even from before birth. I learned how these defence mechanisms can be brought into awareness and gently dissolved, layer by layer, allowing the true self to emerge undefended. I experienced first hand that when we finally let go of our defenses and our ego, we re-connect to our "Essence", our divine core, a place where we simply surrender to what is, in total perfection, and where we know that:
We are spiritual beings having human experiences, not human beings having spiritual experiences.
Daily Chi Kung and meditation practices continue to strengthen my connection to the wonder of being and to the powerful energies of the Earth and the Universe. Whilst my own process of self enquiry and self-healing is ongoing, I am offering a space for you to explore your feelings in a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate way to empower you to take personal responsibility for your own journey of self healing.
