Welcome!
Yaeli began her personal journey with Ayurveda over ten years ago during her first visit to India. Since then Yaeli gained a first class degree and a master’s degree with a merit in Ayurvedic medicine. She attended her clinical training in SDM Ayurvedic college hospital, Hassan, India and KLE Ayurvedic college hospital, Belguam, India. She regularly attends CPD events with Dr Vasant Lad and other Ayurvedic physicians.
During her training she studied Marma therapy and massage. Marma points are energy centres, similar to acupuncture points, although no needles are used when stimulating them. Pressure on some of these particular points can help to relieve stress, dislodge old stagnant and crytaline formations which are due to unresolved emotions, relieve headaches, muscular pain and congestion. Marma point therapy is a an important part of Yaeli's practice, as it helps with deep relaxation and reuniting the mind-body connection, which for many busy people, is not easy to regain whist living in a busy city such as London.
Yaeli is also a qualified Shivananda yoga teacher and an advocate of pranayama, awareness of breath and meditation, which are frequently used in the healing treatments she offers.
What is Ayurveda?
The word Ayurveda means the science or sacred knowledge of life.
It is the ancient Indian art of medicine. Ayurveda aims to prevent ill health, maintain wellbeing, treat the root cause of disease and sustain a deep and strong core of health within each of us.
Ayurveda views each individual as a unique being, with the mind and body being one interconnected system that always work together and affects one another.
The aim of Ayurvedic treatment is to bring the body back to balance and maintain this individual equilibrium, physically, mentally and emotionally. As such all aspects of the person’s lifestyle are examined in order to diagnose and prescribe a unique treatment, which would include dietary, lifestyle advice and herbal remedies when required.
Above all, Ayurveda’s focus is on prevention and maintenance of health in both body and mind.
Ayurvedic Consultation
Within the Ayurvedic consultation your individual constitution will be assessed, with the addition of evaluating what imbalances are present within your body and how to restore your body/mind/emotions back to balance. This usually begins with dietary and lifestyle changes suited individually to you. All dietary and lifestyle changes will be tailored to the individual so that they are easily maintained and followed. This will include recipes and food guidelines.
Pranayama, meditation and yoga techniques may included in the consultation process as and when required and requested. A specific treatment package will also be made available to you during the treatment process, which will be specifically tailored to your needs.
Pranayama
Pranayama, which is frequently practiced along side yoga, is a practice of mastering the breath through different breathing techniques. the aim of pranayama is increase the amount of prana or life force circulating within your body. Many times when we are stressed we do not breath properly, only using a small portion of lungs and therefore reducing the amount of oxygen circulating in our bodies. This causes us to have lack of concentration, fuzzy feeling in our heads and feel generally lower on energy and mood.
Pranayama helps by initially making you aware of your breath, then by enhancing the quality of the breath and life force which circulates in your body, through different time tested techniques which help to cleanse and support you all through the natural action of breathing!
Meditation
Meditation is a tool that has been used for thousands of years by various religious and spiritual practices, although it is not necessarily a religious or spiritual practice, and can be practiced by anyone and everyone simply as a tool or technique, of which there are many.
Meditation promotes relaxation of the mind, enhances the healing processes of the body by aiding with stress release and stress coping mechanisms and calming emotions. Meditation encourages us to become more deeply connected with ourselves, and can be done anywhere at any time, there is no need to sit in lotus position and meditate if this doesn't suite you!
Meditation encourages sound sleep, a healthy digestion and emotional strength by enhancing emotions such as love, compassion, and helping to cope with emotions such as anger and frustration.
