Psychotherapy Counselling Self-Development
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in documentary films. Starting as a runner in the early 80's, I moved on to produce and direct films concerned with human rights'. Then my own experience of therapy and a keen interest in psychology led me to train as a psychotherapist. I qualified in December 2000. Now, as well as having a successful private practice, I work for an NHS Trust, where I provide supervision for a peer counselling scheme. Psychotherapists and counsellors consult me for supervision in their work in both the public and private sector. I provide coaching and coaching supervision.
To complement and support my work, I am developing a documentary film exploring self development, neuroscience, psychology and psychotherapy.
PSYCHOTHERAPY & COUNSELLING
Whether you are considering coming to 'talk to someone' for the first time or have experience of psychotherapy and counselling, I have found the best way to begin the process is to come for a session. A discussion can take place about how the therapy might proceed, the issues that need attention and the length and number of sessions required.
I believe in working hard to identify and provide what an individual needs in order to remove the obstacles that are getting in the way of living life and fulfilling potential.
Addiction, feelings of emptiness, anxiety and relationship issues are areas I am particularly interested in.
COUPLE COUNSELLING AND RELATIONSHIP ISSUES
Over the years I have worked with many couples. Couples and their relationships demand a style of therapeutic intervention which I find challenging, stimulating and rewarding.
SUPERVISION
I provide clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists and those in the teaching, medical and caring professions. I practice in West Hampstead as well as 'on site' supervision. My UKCP listing is Humanistic and Integrative with a transpersonal element. This relates to my training. I have studied the works of Carl Jung, R.D. Laing, Sigmund Freud, Melanie Klein, D.W. Winnicott, John Bowlby, W.R.Bion, A.H. Almaas, Ken Wilber and Henry F. Ellenberger in depth as well as others. I completed a course in Ethics and Philosophy at City University.
Supervision can be frequent and regular, individual or group, as required.
TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
I am an accredited member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). My training incorporated a broad range of theories of psychology, psychotherapy and models of development. I continue to study theories of psychology as well as spiritual disciplines and philosophy with a focus on their relevance to personal development. I studied Ethics and Philosophy at City University. In 2003 I trained as a clinical supervisor. I have practised yoga and tai chi for 10 years
