SERVICES
Welcome to Physio4kids
Physio4kids is a service which provides specialist physiotherapy for children and young people.
Physio4kids is run by Lynda Pedley (GradDipPhys. MCSP), a Chartered Neurological Paediatric Physiotherapist who is an Accredited Bobath Therapist and Associate Member of the Children's Brain Injury Trust.
Lynda has worked as a physiotherapist with children in many different environments for both the NHS and in the independent sector. Her approach ensures that her patients have as much fun working with her as she does with them. Lynda believes in a holistic approach which looks at the child's needs, lifestyle and care. Her concern is to maximise each child's physical, mental and emotional development in partnership with families and carers.
Why might your child need to see a paediatric physiotherapist?
Paediatric Physiotherapists are specially trained to work with children.
There are numerous childhood conditions that can affect a child's development. They can be minor or severe, short or long term and can affect a child's ability to move and function. Children learn through play, movement and exploration of their environment. Paediatric physiotherapy will ensure this is done in the best and most appropriate way.
Typical conditions which can benefit from Paediatric Physiotherapy:
- Neurological conditions - E.g. Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Developmental Delay, Aquired Brain Injury.
- Orthopaedic conditions - Acute and long standing, rehabilitation following trauma. E.g. fractures and head injuries, knee pain, back pain.
- Dyspraxia - Developmental Coordination Disorder, Clumsy Child Syndrome.
- Respiratory conditions - E.g. Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis.
- Learning difficulties with motor impairment - Autism
- Posture and gait problems - E.g. Toe walking, flat feet, etc.
- Juvenile Arthritis
- Poor balance and co-ordination
- Obesity
We can also offer one off assessments to provide reports for statements of Special Educational Needs, Transition Reports for secondary school or college or to support advice required for school/new placements.
Lynda has a proven history of working with a variety of cases, many of which are complex. Through individual taylor made physiotherapy programmes she has repeatedly demonstrated that development is achieved.
In all of her work Lynda works with the child's family and/or carers and other professionals. Parents and family are an essential and integral part of ensuring that treatment is sucessful.
All treatment begins with an initial consultation and assessment before individual therapy programmes are produced. This involves a thorough assessment of the patient as well as conversations with family and consultations with other involved professionals.
