Inital consultation costs £35 and follow-up treatments cost £30.
Availability
We operate a flexible bookings policy which allows for appointments both before and after work from 0730 until 1930 each weekday or 0800 until 1530 at the weekend. If you would like an appointment outside these times please call Fiona or Gareth on 07525 43 48 48.
What to expect
Each treatment is tailored to the individual and through discussing the case history, a treatment plan is agreed upon by yourself and the osteopath.
No matter what the symptom area, before we begin treatment we would normally perform a full postural examination. This may mean briefly dressing down to your underwear. Alternatively you can, for example, wear shorts or running leggings and sports bra if required. Clean towels are provided for your comfort.
It should be stressed that as the patient you have a great deal of input into how you would like to be treated. Osteopathic technique can range from the gentle to the robust, when appropriate. Many approaches to treatment can be offered here at the clinic.
When treating, some areas are more prone to adverse reaction than others. Any associated risks with the techniques we would intend to use would be fully discussed with you. We will only treat once we have your consent.
It occasionally happens that the best course of action is not to treat immediately. If this is the case, you will be advised on how to best proceed. With your permission it may be necessary for us to refer you to another specialist , for example your GP, before we can begin treatment.
First treatment
Your first visit to us will take approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival you will be asked to give us your details and then, with our assistance, to complete a medical case history. During this time, you will be asked a series of questions about your symptoms and a medical case history will be taken. Due to the holistic nature of osteopathy, we may ask about seemingly unrelated areas in an effort to get a broad picture of what the underlying cause or causes may be. Please try to bear with us as these questions often reveal how best to manage and treat your symptoms.
Follow-up treatment
The follow-up treatment is typically 30 mins. On average you can expect to come here for between 2 and 6 treatments in total. Specific simple home exercises and homecare advice, for example icing, are often given as part of the treatment and usually these have the effect of shortening the total number of treatments required.
