What is reflexology?
Reflexology is an ancient form of medicine that was practiced by the Chinese and the Egyptians 5,000 years ago. It is a non-invasive, drugless therapy. It uses the application of pressure by specific massage techniques to precise reflex points.

Where on the body is reflexology practiced?
Reflexology can be practiced on the ears, hands, but is mainly performed on the feet.

What is reflexology used for?
  • To help reduce stress, tension and anxiety to help promote relaxation
  • To improve circulation and lymphatic activity
  • To break down toxins for elimination from the body
  • To help restore balance within the body
  • Helps revitalise the body’s energy levels
  • To nurture a sense of well being
  • To help prevent illness occurring
  • It encourages the body to produce its own natural pain relief
  • It can help eleviate /ease certain conditions

Who can benefit from reflexology?
Since reflexology treats the whole person, physically, emotionally, mentally and environmentally, not just the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment.

Can reflexology do me any harm?
NO. Reflexology is completely safe. Its main aim is to rid the body of toxins, improve circulation to the body, reduce stress, tension and anxiety and provide relaxation.

What happens during a reflexology treatment?
On the first visit a detailed medical history will be taken. Your general health will also be discussed. Given there are no underlying problems, your feet will be treated. Treatment consists of a general foot massage as a warming up process for the feet, followed by specific massage techniques to reflex points on the feet. Once finished, the treatment will be discussed with yourself, and your feedback will be recorded.

How long is each session? How many sessions are needed?
A session usually lasts an hour, however your initial consultation will be longer. Individual sessions are fine but a recommended course is 4-6 treatments. If a condition persists, further treatments may be necessary. Afterwards a regular treatment of once a month helps the body keep its energy levels balanced, its stress levels reduced, therefore helping to promote a healthy body. REFLEXOLOGY IS NOT A MEDICAL TGREATMENT. Although reflexologists can detect imbalances in the body, it is not a reflexologists job to diagnose specific ailments/diseases or treat them. This is still the job of the GP/Doctor. Reflexology should complement conventional medicine rather than be an alternative to it.

Reflexology for Women
A woman is subjected to varying levels of hormones throughout her life. The hormones change on a weekly, monthly and even age related cycle i.e., puberty, pregnancy, menopause. Stress, tension, anxiety and certain other factors can easily upset the hormonal balance, which can in turn cause the woman to experience problems associated with their reproductive system, such as: menstrual problems (regularity), PMT, Infertility, menopausal problems and other problems such as endometritis, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, etc.

Reflexology will aid the body to harmonise the body’s hormonal levels, provide some relief from the condition, plus help the woman feel more relaxed and at one with her body, emotions and feelings, therefore aiding the whole body's well being.

Reflexology in Pregnancy
Pregnancy is not an illness, but due to the body going through many changes, most again being hormonal, it can cause the body to suffer minor and sometimes major ailments which upset the daily life of the woman. Reflexology throughout pregnancy helps to maintain a balance within the body, preventing or at least reducing the affects of the ailments.

Below is a list of ailments that may respond to reflexology
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headache and migraine
  • Backache, sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain
  • Symphsis pubis diastasis
  • Constipation and diarrhoea
  • Varicose veins
  • Heartburn and indigestion
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Stress, tension, anxiety and muscular tension

As changes occur to every system in the body during pregnancy, even your mental health (emotions and feelings) is involved, reflexology can help maintain balance and harmony during the rapidly changing world of pregnancy. By increasing health and well being, reducing stress, tension and anxiety, we provide mum and baby with an ideal environment to flourish together.
