This list is by no means exhaustive and can be used to treat many different types of problems.
Hypnotherapy means the use of suggestion to help with a problem, by giving suggestions to the unconscious mind whilst the person is in a relaxed, trace state.
Trance is a natural state that we go into throughout the day. For example, day dreaming is a form of trance. If you were lost in thought while driving and you arrive at your destination without realising then this is also a form of trance. Another example would be if you were absorbed while reading a book and you didn't hear someone talking to you?
This can also happen just before you go to sleep at night or just before wakening in the morning. So these are examples of naturalistic trance. A trance means a narrowed attention, dissociated awareness, and increased rapport with and access to the unconscious mind.
Hypnotic trance differs from naturalistic trance, in hypnotic trance occurs intentionally, rather than accidentally. Trance typically is deepened beyond the light naturalistic trance state. Hypnotic trance is applied to a therapeutic purpose.
During trance the conscious mind the critical, logical mind that judges constantly is switched off allowing the unconscious mind to be accessed. The unconscious mind does not analyse facts, and is free to accommodate new ideas.
WHAT IS THE CONSCIOUS MIND?
The conscious mind is what we ordinarily think of when we say ‘my mind.’ It’s associated with thinking, analysing and making judgments and decisions. The conscious mind is actively sorting and filtering its perceptions because only so much information can reside in consciousness at once.
WHAT IS THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND?
The unconscious mind holds all awareness that is not presently in the conscious mind. All memories, feelings and thoughts that are out of conscious awareness are by definition ‘unconscious.’ It is also called the subconscious and is known as the dreaming mind or deep mind. The unconscious mind handles the responsibility of keeping the body running well. It has memory of every event we’ve ever experienced; it is the source and storehouse of our emotions.
The mind and body work as one and we are said to be in balance when this is the case.
In the example of anxiety when the mind is fearful of something then we get different responses occurring throughout the body and mind. The heart begins to beat faster, shortness of breath dizziness and nausea. Feeling of dread and difficulty concentrating (to mention only a few symptoms)
it is important to listen to what the client presents with in an empathetic non-judgemental way, allowing the client to express what problems/issues they have, and what resources they require thus “making change possible”
EFT or Emotional Freedom technique
EFT it is based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture treatment. EFT involves the use of fingertips rather than needles to tap on the end points of energy meridians that are situated just beneath the surface of the skin.
"Our negative emotions (sadness, anger, shame, embarrassment fear, panic stress etc..) are caused by a disruption in the body's energy system"
Blockages within our energy system result in symptoms which can both be emotional and/ or physical and include lack of confidence and self-esteem, feeling stuck, anxious, worried, stressed or depressed, or the development of compulsive and addictive behaviours.
By tapping on specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, addiction, pain, etc. -- and voice positive affirmations. This then releases the emotional block -- from your body's bio-energy system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance.
At the end of the session you will be given an information leaflet so that you can use this as a tool to help you within your daily life.
PAST LIFE REGRESSION
Past life regression is the act of regressing a client back in time to a previous life lived through hypnosis.
Some people decide to try Past life Regression to discover, release and resolve some deep emotional problems or behaviours which may be linked to their current situation.
Others try Past life Regression through curiosity a feeling of being here before or perhaps having felt a connection with a particular place or persons.
There are many different viewpoints on Past Life Regression:
Re-incarnation
This is the belief that we have lived previous lives, many times, in order to experience and evolve as human beings. And these memories are stored in your subconscious mind.
Genetic Memory
A theory suggesting that our memories are passed on from one generation to another through the cell structure or DNA. And that these genetic memories “remind” us of past events.
Fantasy
Are we just making it all up? Lots of the information given can be historically researched to prove its accuracy.
What happens during Past Life Regression therapy?
I would firstly take some information on any current issues or problems you are having at present. We would do some breathing techniques and I would also teach you self-relaxation/ self-hypnosis.
We would then progress to deepening the hypnotic state into a deep trance. During this deep trance I will be communicating with your unconscious mind and this is how we will discover who you were in a previous life. Believing that we have all had past lives, it could easily follow that we could bring past “stuff” from those lives into our present lives. This “stuff “could then be released and resolved.
This “stuff” could take the form of
Fears- e.g. heights, water, darkness, people
Phobias - of closed/open spaces
Lack of confidence, anxiety e.g. public speaking
