SERVICES
BOWEN:
The Bowen Technique consists of a series of gentle moves using the therapist's thumbs and fingers. These moves are agentle rolling moves over specific points on the body. These rolling moves are designed to stimulate the muscles and connective tissue within the body creating balance and promoting energy flow.
A normal and vital part of the Bowen treatment, is that the therapist steps back after each set of moves, to allow the client to absorb the moves and for the bodies healing to begin. These pauses allow the body's systems time to respond with the subtle changes that help to relieve tension, stress, reduce pain and start a healing process. The Bowen moves help to balance the body and stimulate a self-healing response with minimum intervention.
An important part of Bowen is that nothing is forced to happen - the moves are gentle, yet are able to trigger the body's own healing responses. Clients often experience improvement and change within two to three days.
The sessions tend to promote a deep sense of relaxation and producing lasting relief, the Bowen Technique has caught the attention of practitioners from many different modalities with its gentle and deeply effective method of helping people.
Bowen is non-invasive and works well with all ages from newborn to the elderly. Yet at the same time works deeply and powerfully encouraging many with sports related injuries to use it regularly, to both heal and prevent injury.
The Bowen Association UK is a member of the British Complementary Medicine Association
MASSAGE:
Therapeutic massage is an ancient healing therapy, which helps to ease physical, mental and emotional problems. The practice of massage dates back to the Chinese in 3000 BC. Other references in the bible refer to anointing the body with oil. In 460 BC, Hypocrites prescribed it as a beneficial treatment for his patients. In one form or another, massage can be found in all the nations of the World.
Today massage can be regarded as a controlled and studied method of manipulating the soft tissues of the body for specific effect. Massage's objective is the restoration of function and the release of tension It is capable of affecting different systems throughout the body; ie. the muscular, skeletal, digestive, elimination, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, emotional and nervous systems.
The basis to all Western forms of massage is Swedish Massage; where a therapist will provide a body massage using oils or lotion on the skin to facilitate treatment.
