The Treatments available at Oak Leaf Holistics
Easch massage treatment is tailor made client for you the client, therefore it is essential that on the first visit at least 10 minutes should be set aside for the completion of a consultation form, which will help both you and I pin point the issues at hand and what we both hope to achieve from each treatment. All this information is treated in the strictest of confidence.
I work with either organic base oils which are chosen to suit each individual’s skin- type or a pre-blended organic oil to aid in relaxation, to give an invigorating massage or to aid balance and harmony to the person. These can be chosen at each session by the you, providing that no contra-indications occur with the use of essential oils. The use of these mediums help to nourish the skin and improve the massage movement.

Massage during pregnancy differs from a regular massage. . This means that positioning during a massage is critical to the safety and well-being of both the mother and the baby she is carrying. There are also parts of the body that should not be massaged.
The massage table will be set up so you will lie in the recovery position. This is not only really comfortable, but safe for baby. Also you will turn from side to side to do your back and hips. I will ensure that there is sufficient padding surrounding you to make you feel comfortable and secure.
A plain unscented organic base oil will be used during the treatment, please let me know whether you have any allergies to nuts etc.
The routine of the Massage will include the feet, legs, lower back, mid back, shoulders neck and arms, however should there be an area that needs particular work this can be assessed during the consultation and the routine adapted to suit each individual, however the client must be aware that there are certain areas of the body that I will not be able to work on due to the pregnancy itself.
Massage is beneficial for almost everyone. Even women carrying multiples babies can benefit greatly from massage. There may be certain conditions that may or may not be related to the pregnancy that would preclude massage or certain types of massage:
This may include women at risk for preterm labour, women with blood clots or clotting disorders, blood pressure issues and other ailments. Massage done during the first trimester is generally up to the therapist, the woman and her practitioner. Massage has never been associated with an increased risk of miscarriage. I am happy to massage a client once they have had their 12 week scan and checks. Should you have any queries about any medical issues that you think may affect you, check with your Midwife and GP and they can issue you with a letter which can be kept on your file.
A full consultation will be done before each session to ensure that no problems may have arisen and this will high-light any possible contra-indications but if you are unsure please feel free to contact me to have an informal chat before your visit
Thai Foot Massage when Pregnant:
In Eastern Medicine it is accepted that during Massage, Acupressure or Acupuncture, stimulation of certain points along the Spleen and Gall Bladder Meridian is undesirable. A full Thai Foot Massage can be done whilst being sensitive to these areas should the client be pregnant.
The benefits of Massage through pregnancy (assuming that there are no underlying problems) are many; the mother becomes more relaxed and so does the baby! Some clients experience a better pregnancy and birth. The action of Massage helps release harmful toxins, which in turn is beneficial to the mother and baby.
Massage is like grooming for the inside, and if the inside is in good shape, it will shine through the outside too!
