Usui Reiki
The Japanese characters in the word Reiki are usually translated as 'Universal Life Energy’ but other translations of the word include 'Soul Energy' and 'Mysterious Spirit'. Reiki energy rebalances the whole person in mind, body and spirit. Reiki empowers your own innate healing ability - it helps you to heal yourself.
Reiki treatments are gentle and relaxing, working to balance the body's energy system. During the treatment, you may experience warmth, coolness or a slight tingling sensation. Some people also see light or colours during the treatment. Still others experience only a deep sense of relaxation - or even fall asleep! These are all things you may feel, but the experience of Reiki is different for everyone. The intuitive practice of Usui Reiki means every treatment you will receive from me is tailored to you and your own needs at that time.
You will be fully clothed for your Reiki treatment, although I will ask you to remove your shoes. During the session my hands will make only gentle contact with or hover slightly above your body.

Reiki Drum Technique
Throughout history, drumming has been regarded as sacred and healing. In tribal cultures, the power of sound over the body and spirit is well known, and now, in the western world, studies have shown how the sounds of a drum can help with illness and emotional trauma, and group drumming has been linked with improving the immune system, helping Alzheimer's patients, building self esteem, and supporting recovering drug addicts and alcoholics. These studies are hinting at what has been known by shamanic practitioners over the ages, and is still known by the shamans who practice what is often known as medicine drumming.
The Reiki Drum Technique combines Reiki and medicine drumming, allowing the energy of the drum to become gentle, protective and work for the highest good. Although popular in the United States, it is still very new to the UK and I am one of only a few practitioners offering this service in Flintshire and Cheshire. This intuitive practice brings healing energy into your body, shifting blockages and rebalancing the energy field. The technique comprises three healing methods, all different and used for separate aims.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is a deeply calming massage based on the Ayurvedic system of healing. It has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The aim of Indian Head Massage is to release the stress that
has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.
It is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Indian Head Massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension.

About Me
I had my first Reiki treatment in 2005, and found it to be deeply relaxing and soothing experience. I wanted to find out more about Reiki, and in 2006, I started training with Reiki Evolution. Their way of teaching is similar to the original Japanese methods taught in the 1920s. It is simple, uncluttered, intuitive, and focused on self-development - an approach that made sense to me. Later that year, I went on to study for my Reiki Practitioner (Okuden) qualifications with Reiki Evolution.
Last year, I extended my Reiki knowledge by studying Reiki Drum Technique with Kay Gillard. You wouldn't think someone banging a drum above you would be relaxing, but it really is! Almost as soon as the drum beat starts, and I feel the vibrations from the drum go through me, I feel my mind still and my body relax.
In the past year, I have also gained qualifications in Indian Head Massage with the Cheshire Massage Academy, and I am currently learning Reflexology and Swedish Massage, and hope to be able to offer these treatments shortly.
I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and hold insurance to practice through their group scheme.
