Part of what coaching is about is achieving goals, but it's also about enjoying your journey towards whatever it is you want.
It's about learning about yourself, your values and priorities, and raising your self-awareness, so you understand and feel good about your own skills, talents and contribution.
It leaves you confident, positive, knowing what you want and how to get it. It also takes into account the important people around you, making sure everyone benefits from the changes you put in place.
About me Who am I and what kind of coaching do I offer?
I am a qualified Personal Performance Coach and NLP business practitioner.
I have additional training in counselling skills, cognitive behavioural models of helping, and solution focussed brief therapy.
For many years I was a speech and language therapist and I have lots of experience of training, presenting, supervising, mentoring, and working alongside people to change old ways of working and communicating, using a coaching model before I even knew I was doing it!
This variety of knowledge and experience gives me insight into how people communicate, within ourselves and with each other, and what impact this has on our self-belief and our ability to make and maintain change.
The type of coaching I use allows you, the client, to decide what we talk about and what action you want to take.
My role as coach is to help you develop achievable, exciting and challenging goals based on your values; I will also help you see what skills and qualities you already have and what else you might need. We might talk about the beliefs you have about achieving your goals and I'll help you consider lots of different ideas about how to move forwards; then I'll support you to set action plans with timescales.
Along the way, you will learn more about what motivates you and helps you stay focussed on what you want to achieve. On the odd occasion that you get distracted from your goal or an old belief trips you up, I'm here to help you get back on track.
You'll also learn ways of monitoring your own progress more effectively, and you'll find new strategies for feeling confident and being positive and clear in your communication with yourself and others about the decisions you make and what you want.
