Barbara Wall - - Thai Yoga Massage Therapist, tutor for Thai Yoga Massage practitioners and Yoga Class Teacher
Welcome to Paadena!
Paadena (a Sanskrit phrase that loosely translates to "on one's feet") offers Yoga classes with Barbara Wall, a qualified teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga (recognised by Sport England as the governing body for Yoga in Great Britain). Paadena also offers Thai Yoga Massage Therapy (TYMT) with Barbara, whose qualification is supported by the TTYMA (Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Association), who in turn is recognised by the British Complementary Medical Association.
Yoga first made itself known to Barbara when she was eight years old, her early interest sparked by a book, purchased with pocket money. This interest has developed over many years with different teachers. Her practice has been mostly inspired by the late Marilyn Freedman, a dedicated follower of the late Vanda Scaravelli.
After passing the BWY three year teacher training course, Barbara began teaching her own classes in Worcestershire. In addition to teaching Yoga, Barbara is also a qualified Chiropodist and her classes and teaching are greatly influenced by her Chiropody practice and focus on developing a greater awareness of grounding and the importance of the feet.
Classes are held in a purpose built studio which is welcoming and set amongst beautiful rolling countryside. The high standards of Barbara's teaching qualifications and teaching practice are continually supported, developed and progressed by the BWY
Thai Yoga Massage Therapy
The term 'Thai Yoga Massage' is used today mostly by western practitioners who have learned, practice and respect the ancient art of traditional Thai Massage and relate their practice to the ancient tradition and its origins in Ayurveda, Yoga and Buddhism.
Thai Yoga Massage Therapy (TYMT) is not merely a style of Thai massage. It is a form of bodywork that benefits both the giver and receiver. It has evolved into a unique and magical combination of deep stretching, rhythmic compression, soft-tissue manipulation, gentle rocking, energy balancing and acupressure. It is performed in a slow, relaxing pace, bringing benefits to skeleto-muscular, nervous, metabolic and other systems of our body, mind and soul. The giver remains focused on their own body centre, aware of not creating any tension, using properly their body weight and leverage, maintaining pure intension, open mind and warm heart.
Giver and receiver both meet in the meditative state of mind and both experience being connected.
Thai Massage works on an energy line system (the Ten Sen) through which the body's natural life force flows. Hands, feet and elbows are used to apply pressure to important points along these lines to clear blockages that can be the cause of aches, pains and even disease. This pressure, along with gentle stretching and applied Hatha yoga, releases blocked energy and frees the body's own natural healing potential to restore balance, health and harmony.
A TYMT session is conducted on a thick cushion on the floor, the client wears loose, comfortable clothing and will be taken through dynamic combinations of techniques that move, stretch and twist them while they are positioned on their back, side, front and in a sitting position on the floor.
The massage affects the entire body by increasing flexibility, releasing both deep and superficial tension, enhancing the body's natural energy flow and promoting inner peace and a quiet mind.
All treatments take approximately 2 hours. This will include initial consultation, treatment and some post discussion.
COST - £65.00 per session (discounted to £50.00 for existing yoga students)

One to One Classes
Whilst there are many benefits to be gained from attending group yoga classes, an ideal way for many people to learn yoga and develop their personal practice is through one to one sessions, the traditional way to learn yoga. With Barbara, your needs will be discussed and assessed. From this an individual practice of postures and breathing will be developed and taught; one that is appropriate for you. Things to consider might include general health, flexibility, and life circumstances.
Reasons to consider individual yoga classes- Personal attention and tuition ideal for beginners to build confidence
- Convenience of lesson times made by appointment
- We come to your home or place of work
- For more experienced students, can be a great way to deepen your practice
- Development of a personal practice for your individual needs
- Specific therapeutic benefits for injury, illness and stress
If you would like to share your session with a partner or one or two friends, it’s a great way to learn.
You will be taken through a lesson plan that has been designed with you in mind. Whilst a lesson each week is ideal, the point of one to one sessions is to deepen your understanding and enable you to practice on your own with maybe a lesson a month to revisit and refresh your practice.
