SERVICES
Welcome to Patricia Bradley
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing therapy. It can help a wide range of conditions from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular Shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.
Common conditions which have been helped by Shiatsu include:
back pain
headaches, migraines
whiplash injuries and neck stiffness
joint pain and reduced mobility
arthritis
menstrual problems
digestive problems
asthmatic symptoms
sports injuries
depression
The underlying philosophy of Shiatsu is that vital energy (Ki in Japanese) flows throughout the body in a series of channels called meridians, For many different reasons Ki can stop flowing freely and this produces a symptom. Using a variety of techniques, including gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and feet on the meridians, dynamic rotations and stretches, energy flow can be improved. As the quality of Ki changes the symptoms will gradually improve. Shiatsu works on the individual as a whole on both a physical and mental/emotional level.
Benefits of Shiatsu
relaxes mind and body
restores and balances energy
eases tension and stiffness
improves breathing
improves posture
improves circulation
enhances well being
What to expect in a session
Each session lasts approximately one hour, more for the first as it is necessary to take a detailed case history. The session will take place on a futon although it is possible to receive Shiatsu sitting on a chair. Please bring or wear loose, warm comfortable clothing such as a sweatshirt, jogging bottoms and cotton socks.
QUALIFICATION DETAILS
Patricia first encountered Shiatsu whilst living and working in Japan in the early 1990s. After completing a six week course with a Japanese instructor (sensei) Patricia was able to practice on friends and family but did not take up intensive study of Shiatsu until her middle child started school in 2004.
Patricia has completed an extensive three year course with the British School of Shiatsu-Do in London including specialist modules in Shiatsu for sports injuries, Shiatsu for pregancy and childbirth and structural alignment techniques. Having had a third child along the way, Patricia gained her practitioner's certificate in 2008.
