Through her interest in anatomy and physiology and work with clients in the pilates field she realised that often other factors can influence a persons journey to health. These may be emotional or past physical trauma held in the body, influencing everything we do. A therapy like craniosacral therapy can help release these influences and ease our pathway to health.
SERVICES Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a very gentle yet profound hands on healing therapy. The therapist uses their touch to listen to the subtle expansion and contraction of all the body tissues. This rhythm, called the craniosacral rhythm, is rather like breathing but takes place in the bones, muscles, tissues and fluids of the body.
Any traumas the body has undergone, both physical and emotional, will be felt as restrictions in this rhythm and a trained therapist can feel this as a pull or tightness in an area.
By following this restriction, with the hands and attention, the force held within the tissues can be released and health returned. This usually results in an improvement of symptoms and often other beneficial results, such as feeling more relaxed or feeling more energised if something like a post operation tiredness and lethargy are being treated
Typical Treatment Session
The client remains clothed and usually lies on a couch, although treatments can be done in a chair.
The therapist may place their hands on key evaluation points such as the ankles, knees, hips and shoulders. This is to listen with the hands to any restrictions in the craniosacral motion.
With only a butterfly touch of the hands the therapist can assist in the release of tensions and restrictions within the tissues. This leads to a deep sense of relaxation, improvement of symptoms and other benefits such as a reduction in stress and general feeling of well being.
This treatment is so gentle it is suitable for babies and the very fragile.
