Teaching since 1985, Prema is a well known and highly respected national and international teacher.
Prema also offers a range of complimentary therapies including The Bowen Technique and Reflexology.
Reflexology
Reflexology is the name given to the form of treatment that involves giving massage in a certain manner to all of the areas of the feet.
In the feet there are reflex areas that relate to all the parts of the body and these reflex areas are found on the soles, the top and the sides of the feet. It is a gentle form of natural healing which treats the whole body.
Reflexology does not claim to be a 'cure-all' but numerous different disorders have been successfully treated by this method. These disorders include such things as migraine, sinus problems, hormonal imbalances, breathing disorders, digestive problems, circulatory problems, back problems and tension and stress. Most people who have experienced treatment would agree that the method can be most beneficial and is also a very relaxing therapy.
Bowen Technique
Bowen Technique www.bowen-technique.co.uk was originally developed in the 1950s by Australian Tom Bowen who believed that the body has the ability to adjust, adapt and heal itself. A Bowen treatment consists of a series of gentle moves on skin (or through light clothing), with the client usually lying on a bed or comfortable treatment couch. The process sends impulses to the brain to trigger the body's own healing systems and rebalances body energy. A treatment session usually lasts from half an hour to an hour and frequently results in a deep sense of overall relaxation, allowing the body to recharge and balance itself.
About Prema
Prema has been practicing yoga for 30 years and been teaching for over 20. She started practicing yoga just as a way to keep fit when working for the BBC but it soon developed into an absolute necessity for overcoming the stress of daily living and she realised it was something she could never be without.
Over the years Prema has studied with a wide range of teachers and styles of yoga including Iyengar, Viniyoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Sivananda, Bikram, Kundalini and traditional Hatha Yoga. She has also been strongly influenced by her own teacher Swami Satchidanana Ma who mixes Integral Yoga with the Alexander Technique; Phil Jones a pranayama and breath work expert; Meg Trainor an Authentic Movement facilitator; and Swami Omkarananda’s teachings of mantra. Prema leads with a disciplined yet flowing style which blends precision in alignment with her love of movement and the power of meditation, mantra and pranayama.
Prema has been training teachers for the British Wheel of Yoga for nearly 20 years.
In 2004 Prema received Divine Blessings and was initiated as a Swami at the Omkarananda Ashram in Switzerland. Prema believes we need a strong ethical base in our life and yoga practice, and that Vedanta Philosophy helps us find unity in diversity.
