Psychotherapy In Devon Amanda Farrington
My name is Amanda Farrington, I and hope that after visiting the pages on my website you will feel encouraged and confident to contact me if you think that my services would benefit you. I work in private practice working both short and long term with clients and I work in SIDMOUTH and EXETER. I have eleven years experience of both private practice and of working within the NHS.
You might want to see a therapist for all sorts of reasons, These are just some of the areas you may wish to explore which I can help you with:
- Relationships, work/life issues/ stress
- Depression and/or difficult feelings
- Panic Attacks/anxiety
- Sexual problems
- Abuse
- Bereavement or loss
- Isolation/lack of meaning direction
- Addiction
- Anger
An experience that has left you with traumatic shock - this can result in feeling emotionally numb, flashbacks, nightmares and a feeling of being 'on guard'
Or, you may be feeling as if your self esteem is very low and/or you simply feel troubled or stuck and can't put your finger on why.
Sometimes emotional reactions to stress can be accompanied by other symptoms and physical health can often suffer. This may result in for example:-muscle aches and pains, diarrhoea, irregular heartbeats, headaches, feelings of panic and fear, drinking too much alcohol, using drugs (including painkillers), hoarding or even shopping too much.
Towards a relational therapy...
So, how can counselling and psychotherapy help? When you talk things through in a safe and confidential space with someone experienced and specially trained in this way it can make all the difference. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to explore and understand any difficulties that you may be feeling, which are affecting you from the past, or the present. Just to stop and do this can feel beneficial. Finding the right therapist is so important. You want someone you 'gel' with, who can really hear what you are going through. If you want your life to change, you don't have to do this on your own any more. Therapy is an important first step to managing your life better and working towards living your life the way you want to with someone whom you feel comfortable with and can trust. If you decide to see me, I am here to support you at this time of change and growth.
