Welcome to Radlett Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine
Radlett Acupuncture & Herbs is a full service TCM practice run by Leila Bux, BSc (Hons) TCM, MBAcC and Neil Archer, BSc, Lic Ac, Specialist areas of treatment are Anxiety & Stress Management, Back pain relief, Fertility and IVF Support and more. Practitioners are highly qualified and experienced, registered and insured with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). You will receive gentle and effective acupuncture, safe and appropriate herbal medicines at our Radlett clinic.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (TCM) has a successful 3,000 year history in China and is now widely used throughout Europe and the USA as an effective, natural medical system to treat many conditions.
The TCM philosophy aims to harmonize the body’s natural balance to treat both the cause and the manifestations (ie pain or symptoms) of disease to promote and maintain health. Treating the root cause of conditions offers a truly holistic approach, and because of this the results are effective and long lasting.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal Formulary is the foundation of the Chinese medical system and has a successful 3,000 year history. The herbal materia medica used are dried plant parts ie:-
- flower heads
- seeds
- roots
- bark and leaves
The Herbal recipe or 'formula' is infused into a decoction, a tea-like beverage. Tea-pills, capsules or powders are also available and are very convenient however they may be less powerful than dried herbs. All herbs used in my practice are tested for contaminants and heavy metals at source, and are subjected to strict guidelines during production and packaging so you can be assured of receiving quality medicines.
Tuina Massage and TCM
Cupping Therapy
Cupping, an ancient eastern therapeutic art, traditionally used by applying heated bamboo cups to the skin, to create a vacuum over the local area. Today smooth glass cups are applied using a flame to create the vacuum. The purpose to this technique is to draw blood and toxins out of the muscles to the skin's surface where it can be more easily dispersed by the body.
Useful and effective for treating coughs and colds and muscular pain.
Moxibustion
Moxa is a dried herb rolled into a cigar shape, ingnited and left to smoulder, it is held over treatment specific points to inject heat into the point and the meridian system for a therapeutic effect. Loose Moxa can also be applied to the top of needles and lit, carrying heat into muscles to relieve stagnation from cold and damp. This technique is specifically good for chronic muscular pain.
