What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient form of Tibetan therapeutic touch, rediscovered in the 1900’s by Dr Mikao Usui. The Japanese word Reiki means ‘Universal Energy’.
Rei – the highest and purest form and ki – energy (also known as chi in China or prana in India) Reiki’s healing energy works on every level and promotes the body’s own healing process.
Reiki is a non intrusive therapy, no massage or manipulation is involved. The client stays fully clothed throughout treatment. A light touch is applied at various places on the body over clothing. All you need to do is relax!
A Reiki treatment aims to help the bosy to deal with the causes of any problem not just the obvious physical symptoms.
Reiki does not belong to any religion or belief system, so anyone can receive Reiki, all you need is the desire to be healed.

What happens during a Reiki session?
At your first Reiki treatment you will be asked for a brief medical history (all in confidence and non-judgemental) then it is on with the treatment! You remain fully clothed throughout; you only have to remove shoes or slippers, and then lie down on the treatment table (or bed or chair).
Reiki is then given by me placing my hands either with a light touch on your body over your clothes or just over the body, in a sequence of hand positions. No massage or manipulation is involved, reiki is very gentle.
You may feel different sensations such as heat, a tingling, coolness or throbbing, or you may feel nothing but relaxed. You may feel tired and fall asleep, get emotional or energized. Some people will also see colours or ‘pictures’. It really depends how the Reiki flows, which we have no control of, it will go where it is needed which may not always be the obvious.
I have found no two sessions are ever the same for me or my clients, so it’s always interesting!
