SERVICES
Welcome to Roe Reflexology
George Brien is an ITECH qualified reflexologist and a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Roe Reflexology provides a holistic treatment tailored to the needs of each individual client. Treatment is delivered in a specifically equipped room, providing a peaceful, soothing environment designed to assist relaxation.
Reflexology is a healing therapy based on the principle that a reflex point in the foot relates to each organ, function, and part of the body.
By applying a deep pressure technique to these reflexes the practitioner seeks to normalise bodily function. It is a holistic treatment enabling the internal defences to maximise their effect.
All About George
Like many people George sometimes suffers from a “bad back”. In seeking relief from pain he tried a number of complementary treatments and found that reflexology helped enormously.
As one who has always been interested in sport, health and fitness he decided to learn more about reflexology, eventually qualifying as a practitioner.
He does not prescribe, diagnose, nor claim to cure; however he does promise that he will do his very best to make you feel better. Feedback from clients treated has been very positive. Please feel free to telephone for discussion without any obligation
As a member of the International Council of Holistic Therapists, George complies with their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. He undertakes Continuing Personal and Professional Development to ensure his skills are up to date.
In addition to the initial ITEC qualification he has undertaken training in Vertical Reflexology with the Lynn Booth school and training in Maternity Reflexology with the internationally renowned Moshe Kurchik. He is also an active participant in the Northwest reflexology support group which meets monthly for training and to share best practice.
In addition to reflexology George is passionate about running, rugby, and riding his recumbent tricycle. The alliterative nature of these activities is purely coincidental.
Treatments & Benefits
How can reflexology help me ?
Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium. This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.
Reflexology has been shown to be effective for a variety of conditions including:
- Back Pain
- Migraine
- Infertility
- Arthritis
- Sleep disorders
- Hormonal imbalances
- Sports injuries
- Digestive disorders
- Stress-related conditions
It is not necessary to have a specific ailment to benefit from a reflexology session. You may just want some space and time to relax, or just want to feel pampered.
Who can benefit from reflexology ?
Reflexology is suitable for most adults and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
With ever increasing levels of stress, it is important people take more responsibility for their own health care needs.
Reflexology helps us to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level thereby encouraging us to heal and maintain health in all areas of our lives.
It may not be suitable for those taking some forms of medication, nor would it be appropriate to treat those who have a fever or a contagious condition.
A consultation prior to treatment will satisfy both the reflexologist and the client that treatment is appropriate.
What happens when I go for treatment ?
On the first visit, the reflexology practitioner will conduct a consultation with you to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. This is to ensure that reflexology is right for you and so the treatment can be tailored to your individual needs.
You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks. As it is only the reflexes in the feet and ankles that are manipulated during treatment you will remain fully clothed.
You will relax in a comfortable recliner with your feet in an elevated position.
Your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment.
If you wish gentle music will be played to encourage relaxation while your feet are being manipulated.
The actual physical treatment will last about 45 minutes.
What happens afterwards ?
The majority of people feel relaxed, calm, rejuvenated or energised immediately after treatment.
To gain maximum benefit you should drink plenty of water – this helps flush away toxins; try to rest and avoid stressful encounters.
You will be provided with aftercare advice to maximise effectiveness.
After you have completed a course of reflexology treatment for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health and well-being.
