Welcome to Sadhana Yoga & Pilates

Welcome to Yoga and Pilates classes in Manchester, Eccles and Monton.

I am a qualified and insured Yoga and Pilates teacher (incl. pre and post pregnancy). I teach a variety of Yoga styles from dynamic flow using breath and posture work, to Yin Yoga as well as Pilates. Classes are for all bodies and any body - if you are pregnant please contact me first.

Yoga, Pilates & Cooking Retreat

Join Maggie (Haybergill Centre) and Sadhana (Sadhana Yoga/Pilates) for a wonderful Wellbeing Weekend.

We will offer sessions on how to cook healthy, organic, locally sourced and produced vegetarian foods, as well as Yoga (from dynamic flow, Yin & Hatha Yoga), Pilates, Meditations, Relaxation, Pranayama (breath practices), massage, sauna, walks and talks.

Cooking learn from a qualified Chef how to produce healthy, tasty food recipes are all creative yet easy to make so no experience needed. Sessions will include how to produce a range of home made breads, variety of summer salads and great home grown and locally produced dishes (July) and Christmas treats (Dec.) not forgetting delicious healthy puddings. The food at Haybergill Centre is so popular that they have produced their own cook book. (all bellies catered for incl. vegan, gluten/nut free etc) which forms the basis for the cookery sessions.

Yoga/Pilates qualified British Wheel Yoga Teacher, Yin and Mindfulness Meditation and Pilates with several years experience, Sadhanas classes ensure that all people are able to take part in the sessions and enjoy the true beauty and joy of the practice of Yoga and Pilates. Pilates also include correct posture and and spinal alignment.

Yoga Classes

All my classes practice mindfulness of the breath and body.

Sadhana Yoga blends a wide range of Yogic principles drawing on influences from posture work (asana), aswell as pranayama (breathing practices), bandhas and mudras('energy centres' and symbolic hand gestures), meditation and relaxation techniques.

The classes are made accessible for all people so that you can take the classes at your own pace and enjoy the practice. This approach can help us to see Yoga as less of a 'goal' oriented pratice which often lead to anger and frustration. I encourage people to use their breath and Pranayama (breath expansion techniques) to enter into a state of dhyana and dharana (concentration and internal focus) which can lead us into a beautiful state of being free from the ego self (samadhi to moksha) to allow a sense of joy and peace in the internal bodies.

If you can breath then you can practice Yoga. All is ask is that you listen to YOUR body, be mindful and enjoy the practice.

Just bring a warm heart and an open mind.



QUALIFICATION DETAILS
Yoga British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) teacher. The BWY are recognised by the Sports Council as the national Governing Body for Yoga in Great Britain and they are a leading member of the European Union of Yoga. Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation Training Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with Sarah Powers and Ty Powers. Both Sarah and Ty are truly inspirational teachers. Please click onto Sarah Powers for details. Pilates OCR (one of three leading bodies in Education and Training) Certificate in teaching Mat Based Pilates. Member of REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals). Pregnancy Training Pilates and Yoga Pre and Post natal. Regular attandence at numerous workshops and talks incl. midwife sessions to help students in both my Yoga and Pilates classes. Pranayama (Breath Expansion) Without the breath their exists no practice of Yog. It was the philosophy and principles of Pranayama that insprired me from an early age to take my Yoga practice further. I have studied Pranayama techniques extensively including British Wheel of Yoga and more recently Philip Xerri Pranayama Module (March 09-Jan 10.); a BWY module based on teachings of Dr Swami Gitananda. REPs Level 3 member of REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) who ensure best practice in the exercise and fitness industry. To carry on being a recognised teacher of REPs, teachers are expected to carry out CPD (Continous Professional Development) throughout their career. A list of some workshops/CPDs are below. . Related Qualifications I regularly attend a wide variety of workshops from anatomy to philosphy and dance in both Yoga and Pilates to keep my approach fresh and up-to-date and I am grateful to those teachers for sharing their knowledge. Some of these include 'Anatomy of Yoga', 'Safe Backbends', 'Making Inversions Safe and Enjoyable', 'Yoga and Meditation', 'Teaching Mindfulness', 'Yin/Yang Yoga' with Sarah Powers, 'Anatomy of the Hips', 'Principles of Kathak', 'Methods of Mantra', 'The Bhagavad Gita within the Mahabharata', weekly discussions groups on Bhagavad Gita/Vedanta/Islam and Yoga amongst many others. Many of these workshops are with accredited bodies. Others Emergency First Aid at Work (updated every 2 years- last update July 08) "Enhanced Disclosure" with the Criminal Records Bureau required to teach Children and Vulnerable adults. CRB checks are necessary as I work with Manchester MENCAP. Thai Yoga Massage Discovery Course NCFE Certificate in Exercise Studies International Business and French Degree from Leeds Business School Nutrition Qualifications NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Health and Nutrition RIPH Certificate (Distinction with Honours)in Nutrition and Health
