Holistic treatments for health and well being
You can visit the clinic or home visits are available within the Bedford Area
Sarah Annis Reflexology provides treatments in a calm and relaxing environment; allowing clients to relax, unwind and re-balance.
Reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that encourages the body to heal itself. It is safe, natural and aids relaxation.
What are the benefits of Reflexology?
Although Reflexology does not claim to cure any condition it facilitates healing within the body, many different conditions have been helped very successfully. Some of the benefits are:
Feelings of deep relaxation
Increased well being
Release of tension, stress and anxiety
Improved sleep
Improved mood
Reflexology is a safe and natural therapy and can therefore work alongside any conventional medicine. However, it is always a good idea to consult with your GP if you are currently receiving medical care.
What Happens During a Treatment?
During the first visit I will take a full medical history and find out the reasons for you choosing the treatment. This will ensure the treatment is specifically tailored for you. You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks/tights, roll up your trouser legs and recline on the couch. I will then carry out the treatment. At the end of the treatment I will offer feedback whilst you have a glass of water. The consultation and treatment will last for one hour.
How Many Treatments will I Need?
It is difficult to determine how long it will take an individual to feel the benefits of reflexology. A feeling of deep relaxation can be obtained with just one session however most client find a series of treatments has the best effect. Treatment plans will vary from client to client.
I am passionate about the benefits that Reflexology can bring to people of all ages, such as deep relaxation, improved well-being and the release of tension, stress and anxiety.
Special areas of Interest:
I have a special interest in maternity reflexology and I am a fully qualified Maternity Reflexologist.I had reflexology treatments throughout both of my pregnancies and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
Before conception, when preparing the body, reflexology can be used to balance the hormonal system, relax the client and give an energy boost.
Reflexology is one of the most relaxing complementary therapies you can choose during pregnancy. It may help the body adjust to hormonal changes and aid problems in pregnancy such as morning sickness, nausea, backache, digestive problems, tension and difficulty sleeping.
Post pregnancy the sudden drop in hormones can affect new mothers. As well as feeling emotional there are added pressures such as feeding and caring for the newborn plus lack of sleep. Reflexology can ease anxiety, balance hormones and energy levels. It can be very helpful to reduce the effects of post natal depression.
You may feel happier informing your obstetrician/midwife that you are receiving reflexology, although it is not necessary if you have a natural, uncomplicated pregnancy. I am finding more midwives seem to be recommending reflexology to help provide stress relief and relaxation during pregnancy.
If you are unable to get to the clinic or would prefer to receive a treatment in your own home, mobile appointments are available on request.
New mums may be more comfortable receiving a home visit as this allows their baby to stay with them during the treatment.
I also have a special interest in Cancer care and am working with a local charity in Bedfordshire called Above and Beyond. They support cancer patients during and after their treatments. I also offer treatments to patients at Bedford Daycare Hospice. Both charities provide fantastic support and it is hugely rewarding to see the relief reflexology can give to the patients. Please see my links page on my website for the charity details. I trained with Marie Duggan at Butterfly Touch Therapies and her advice has been invaluable.
Health Insurance
If you currently have health insurance you may well be able to claim all or part of your treatment fees. Please check with your provider to find out the conditions required for your specific policy. You will pay as normal then submit your receipt to your provider who will refund some (if not all) of the costs.
