SERVICES
Welcome to Scorpio Clinics
First established in 1989, our range of services has developed over the years to reflect the changing needs and expectations of our clients
Scorpio has earned a reputation for getting excellent results. We are adept at all the well recognised physio manual and rehabilitation techniques: but we have also cast our net much further afield . We offer more unusual techniques such as the Dorn Method, the Graston Technique, the Gunn method of dry needling, the ATM2 device, the Scenar.
Whenever possible, prevention is better than cure, so we endeavour to help all of our patients achieve improved long-term health by understanding how to avoid physical injury and stress. We make extensive use of video during our assessment and treatment so that our clients can fully understand the issues involved in their particular journey back to health.

Sarah Key Method
Sarah Key is physiotherapist to the principal members of the Royal Family. She has devised a technique of treating backs by using her feet. (Yes, it seems she gets her heels into the Queen's back when the need arises!) It's a bit like Thai massage but is focussed on releasing joints rather than muscles in your back.
At Scorpio we've found it incredibly effective especially for those cursed by the chronically stiff backs so many of us suffer with. We know it's a bit unorthodox and most people do a bit of a double take when asked to lie on the floor - but no one has ever refused a second go!
PIM
PIM is a relatively new technique from Australia which uses a small instrument to deliver a high velocity thrust combined with a lower force than manual manipulation - which means that it is gentler and less painful than some of our other interventions!
Benefits of PIM include the following:
- Easier for the patient. Because of the high velocity and lower forces generated with instrument mobilising, the manipulation is more comfortable for the patient. This equates with less muscle and joint soreness during and after treatment
- Older people often have osteoporosis and cannot be treated effectively with manipulation due to the risks involved. The PIM technique is far safer and easier to apply and gets rapid results. It allows for a more accurate dosage and direction, which leads to measurably better outcomes for the patient.
- Many people are not keen on being pushed and pulled around by a physio - this is a way to get "manual" therapy with a bit less handling!
- Children find it fun and less threatening than many of our other techniques
It's rare in physio for us to use mechanical instruments but we believe it provides the benefits of added safety whilst at the same time expanding the treatment options available to us. The chiropractors got there before us on this one and have a similar gadget: but the PIM has been specially adapted to use with existing respected physio techniques
What to expect
On your arrival you will be shown into a private treatment room by your therapist. He or she will ask you a large number of questions about yourself and your medical history as well as about your current condition, and then will carry out a clinical examination.
On the basis of his or her findings, the therapist will make a diagnosis. He or she will discuss this diagnosis with you and recommend a treatment plan.
The agreed treatment plan will normally commence during this first session.
