Welcome!


Beginners are welcome to join my classes, although you will still find plenty to learn (or unlearn?) if you are not new to yoga.

I help everyone, whatever your level to find your starting point in the poses, and together we develop from there to make you stronger, more relaxed and more knowledgable about how to help your own body and mind.

There are currently studies on how Iyengar yoga helps alleviate pain. You will learn how to adjust your body to strengthen weakness in back, knee, neck ,shoulders. Yoga also helps with blood pressure ,depression and anxiety.

I feel that whatever you need most, Iyengar yoga will give it to you through practice.
You will find confidence and strength to do things you would not have thought possible - but only at a pace that is appropriate for you. After all Mr Iyengar said "My yoga is not fast food"!

There is plenty of variety with over 70 poses (asana) on the beginners syllabus. some you will like straight away ,others may need time to explore and understand before you learn to love them! We take time to learn and understand.

Why did I choose Iyengar yoga? As an active 30 odd year old when I started, I was surprised at how much I had to learn about my body. But I was quickly impressed by how classes often had people of 60 and beyond doing things i was struggling with!

I soon realised the magic of Iyengar is in its attention to detail - you will learn to help bring more symmetry to your body and to help all of it to work, especially the weak or lazy bits!
I love the inclusiveness of Iyengar yoga - you will never be left on the side because you cant do something - an appropriate alternative is always given.

I love the fact that there is always something to learn, about my own body and to help others.
And I love the shared journey with my classes.

We work hard in class- but always with a smile, a laugh and plenty of encouragement. We learn to relax fully too -that precious "relaxation" savasana at the end of class is also a place to learn about our habits of anxiety or busyness on our heads.
