Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture has evolved from Chinese acupuncture and is a therapeutic modality whereby fine acupuncture needles are used to give rapid symptom relief. Trained practitioners use up to date knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to formulate a treatment. It has shown to be of benefit in treating musculoskeletal pain, releasing myofascial trigger points. It has shown to be effective for postoperative pain and nausea.

Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial osteopaths are trained to feel the delicate and rhythmical shape change that is present in all body tissues, called involuntary motion. The notion of this rhythm and original techniques were first described by William G. Sutherland in the 1900’s. The term can be misleading as it is not just applied to the head, but to any joint or structures in the body. It has proven to be very effective in a wide variety of conditions presented by all ages (from birth to old age).

Naturopathy

Naturopaths employ methods which enhance the inherent self-correcting mechanisms of the human body and promote a healthy balance in the physical, mental and biochemical aspects of each individual. Naturopaths use some or all of the following to optimise their patient’s well being and general health: Clinical dietetics, applied nutrition, detoxification, hydrotherapy, psychotherapy techniques and healthy lifestyle advice.

Fitness and Exercise

Regular exercise is an important aspect of good health. Advice is given according to the individual, to make it practical, useful, beneficial and enjoyable. Specific rehabilitation exercises and strengthening exercises may be prescribed as well as certain yoga poses, pilates techniques, stretches or strengthening exercises and core stability exercises.
