Welcome to Siva Yoga Retreats

Yoga classes are invaluable to introduce techniques and variations as suggested to the class by the Yoga teacher. A Yoga retreat offers a totally different experience because the teacher has more time to provide individual teaching, and students gain the benefits of deep relaxation which are magnified in the retreat environment. Also due to the reduced time constraints and being surrounded for hours by like minded people, it becomes easy to focus more on your own postures and breathing techniques.

What We Offer

We specialise in residential Yoga-based retreats for people who have some knowledge and experience and want to move onto a greater enjoyment in their Yoga practice. We offer an environment which is ideally suited to improving understanding and personal development in Yoga. Retreats are held over two full days, mainly at weekends.

What to Expect

It’s important to note that the retreat is not an exercise or fitness class but a balanced ‘mind, body & spirit’ programme taught by a qualified and highly experienced teacher, Ann O’Hare. The experience offers students a perfect opportunity to break from the rigours of daily routines to relax in beautiful and peaceful surroundings with healthy food. By limiting the retreat to 6 – 8 students, it enables all students to benefit from Ann’s individual attention to their tuition needs and progress.

What are the Benefits?

Students will gain greater understanding of the foundations, postures and structures of Hatha Yoga linked to the teachings of Sivananda. There will also be introductions and practice in related meditation and other complementary therapies via workshop interaction.

The programme of activities and workshops is designed to take place with priority order and timings, to ensure maximum benefits of improved well-being and clarity, which will flow for all students in the group. The retreat experience is normally emphatically more beneficial than what can be achieved during weekly classes, but will complement and improve the Yoga experience felt by students who continue their classes after the retreat.

About Ann

Siva Yoga Teacher

The retreat teacher Ann O’Hare came into Yoga over 30 years ago. Her learning and experience was guided for the first 15 years by a book called ‘Wake up to Yoga’ by Lyn Marshall.

She then joined weekly Hatha Yoga classes and as well as learning improved postures she learned to meditate using ‘OM’ the sacred syllable often used in meditation. From that experience onwards, Yoga and meditation have gone together for Ann.

During this period she studied and practiced as a Reflexologist, gaining an interest in all complementary therapies and was fascinated by the positive impact this way of life had on her self-awareness and confidence.

A chance meeting with an old school friend led Ann to Iyengar Yoga, which she continued regularly for several years gaining much benefit from the therapeutic aspects of the asanas and pranayama (deep breathing), but always with unrelenting emphasis on correct anatomical structure, which is the objective of Iyengar Yoga.

Ann’s first Yoga retreat experience was a week long Ashtanga Yoga course and although she enjoyed the pramayama and meditation classes, she found the more vigorous movement and exercise aspects of this Yoga type to be less appealing.

She stayed in an Ashram in the Bahamas and qualified as a Siva Yoga teacher and now teaches this Yoga style, which focuses on preserving health and wellness.

Ann enjoys passing on her knowledge, love and passion for Yoga to students both in classes and retreats.

Recently she returned from another retreat in the Ashram where she again soaked up the wonderful atmosphere with like minded people, and reconfirmed that her mission to continue providing a superb Yoga retreat environment for others to enjoy and benefit is exactly the right one for her.
