Welcome to Sunbeam Reiki
At Sunbeam Reiki, we do not try to overcomplicate issues. Reiki is as old as the universe itself, and yet is as simple as the sun rising and setting. There is no religious faith needed, and in fact, Reiki works in harmony with any consciousness, no matter time, age or space. Everyone is open to this type of healing, no matter of your spiritual beliefs, if any.
What is Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a ancient technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It was rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. Reiki is administered by a practitioner laying their hands on the client while fully clothed; techniques such as this have been practiced for thousands of years.
Reiki is a very simple yet powerful technique that can be easily learnt by anyone. The word “Rei” means universal consciousness, and the word “ki” means the same as “Chi” in Chinese, or “Prana” in Sanskrit; it means life force energy. As long as something is alive, it has life force; when it dies, this energy departs. If your life energy is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you are more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick.
How does it work?
In a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands on the client with the intention to send healing and then the Reiki energies begin to flow automatically. Reiki (because of its universal consciousness) has its own intelligence and knows exactly where to go and what to do. It is not necessary for the practitioner to direct the Reiki. It will communicate with the client’s inner life force (Ki or Chi) and find the blockages itself. The easiest thing that you the client has to do is to relax and enjoy the soothing energies flowing through you!

Does it take a long time to learn?
Because everyone has within them Reiki energy already, learning Reiki is not so much a matter of developing new skills, but rather tuning into what is naturally there. We are used to taking a long time to learn skills because in traditional educational settings we are required to concentrate our minds. However, when learning Reiki, we practice using our intuition instead. Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 are both taught over a 1 day workshop.

About Natalie
I began my Reiki journey in September 2000. I met Reiki Master Naomi Lewis in London and attended her Reiki 1 workshop. Immediately after, I felt elevated, brighter, more focused and bursting with positive energy! I began to see colours brighter and feel more connected to the Universe in general. I immediately sensed the urgency to help spread the word of healing to others. Once I started practicing on myself and on clients I felt my intuition grow, and the ability to be able to channel healing to assist others on their journeys became inevitable. Since then I have never looked back.
I took Reiki 2 degree in January 2001 with Reiki Master Colin Kirsch, and again immediately felt the heightened intensity of my treatments after completing the course. A much clearer perspective came.
When travelling through South East Asia, I met up with Colin again, and this was where I took my Reiki 3 – the Masters level training. It was in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand, on my birthday in March 2003, that I attained the status Reiki Master. I continued to travel throughout Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia and then eventually went back to Thailand to settle in the Southern islands. It was here on Koh Tao that I lived and worked, establishing and successfully running Sunbeam Reiki for the small travelling and diving community there.
I am based in Hendon, London NW4, with a space dedicated to treating clients from home. However, if you would like a home visit for a treatment then I am able to travel to certain areas within London for a small additional fee. Please contact me via email or phone for further information.
