EFT
Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT, is a natural tool to aid the healing of negative emotions associated by an event, or a thing or situation. It's a relaxing process which in turn can bring about a positive way of thinking.
It works by "tapping" into the body's natural energy system. The ancient chinese discovered that the body also contains pathways, like veins, that carry energy around our body. When we experience a negative emotion that energy flow gets disrupted, and our energy is unable to flow as it should. Very much like a blood clot in a vein, the energy gets blocked in its pathway. By tapping on the head, body and hand whilst simultaneously focusing on the problem, we are able to unblock the stuck energy so that it can flow again. Once the energy is flowing again, the negative emotion is released.
Typically these results are lasting.
EFT often works where other therapies may have failed.

Hi Suzanne,
Just to say a big thank you for sorting out my phobia. It has always seemed such a silly thing to have to admit, at the age of 67, that I am still afraid of going upstairs in the dark. As I explained to you, it all started when I was a small boy in my parents house, which had a narrow dark stairway. Being the war time when I was small, the nearby air raid siren used to go off every so often, and I didn't know what it was. It conjured up thoughts that it might be a monster up the stairs, and coupled with the narrow dark stairway, it made me afraid to go up there. Obviously, as you grow up, you realise these are not things to be afraid of, but the little boy in you still harbours these fears.
The process you took me through, of telling myself as a little boy that all is well, and giving him confidence, has worked. It probably seems strange to anyone else that this could work, and I am surprised myself, but it has! I can now climb the stairs at night in the dark, and go into the bedroom to pull the curtains without putting the light on. My wife even put the light out the other night, by mistake, just as I was on the bottom step of the stairs, and left me in complete darkness, and I wasn't panicking as I used to do.
