Our Therapies
KINESIOLOGY...
Kinesiology (pronounced Kin-easy-ology) comes from the Greek word ‘kineses’ which means motion.
Simply put, it is the study of muscles and body movement. This system monitors muscle movement in order to ascertain information that will allow the therapist to reach a course of action to bring about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
What are the benefits of Kinesiology?- Help with learning difficulties
- Help with anxiety and phobias
- Relieve muscular and joint problems
- Nutritional deficiencies and food sensitivities
- Enhance general well being
THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE...
Discover how you can recover from injuries faster, relieve pain from everyday symptoms of many ailments and improve the body’s own ability to heal. The Bowen Technique is a soft tissue therapy that is suitable for adults and children, including newborn babies and the elderly.
The practitioner uses thumbs or fingers to make a series of precise, rolling-type moves over the muscle. During the treatment there are a series of breaks where the patient is left resting to allow their body to respond to the gentle moves that have been performed. The rest is an important part of the treatment and gives the body time to make the subtle and fine adjustments, which help to re-balance, relieve tension and reduce pain. It is these features, which make the Bowen Technique unique.
An appointment will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour and most of the work can be performed through light clothing, so no need to de-robe. It is suggested that at least two to three treatments at weekly intervals are sufficient to achieve lasting relief; although further treatments may be required depending on the length of time of the injury. If the injury is chronic then a maintenance treatment may be needed.
What are the benefits of The Bowen Technique?- Releases muscle tension
- Helps to relieve pain
- Aids recovery from injury
- Improves mobility
- Increased flexibility
- Natural well-being
- Reduces stress
- Sense of relaxation
- Boosts immune system
SPORTS THERAPHY MASSAGE...
Are tight aching muscles preventing you from obtaining you maximum level of fitness? Sports Therapy may be the answer to your training restrictions.
Sports Therapy massage is as important to your training as eating, sleeping and resting. It will help to rid the body of toxins that are a cause of pain in the body after rigorous training.
How can it prevent injuries?
The most common of all sports injuries is the over- use injury. It can develop slowly over a period of time – days, weeks, months or even years – and the sports person may not be aware of the problem until it reaches a critical level.
As the Sports Therapist softens the tissues, these problems become apparent, as they remain hard and tense compared to the surrounding tissues. Specialist massage techniques are used to break these down thus enabling the muscles to function correctly, and increase performance. Left untreated they will cause pain, limit flexibility and performance
What are the Benefits of Sports Therapy massage?- Reduce the chance of injury, through proper stretching and event preparation, and through deep tissue massage
- Improve range of motion and muscle flexibility, resulting in improved power and performance
- Shorten recovery time between workouts
- Maximize the supply of nutrients and oxygen through increased blood flow
- Enhance elimination of metabolic by-products of exercise
REIKI...
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) healing energy connects and circulates within the human body...
...travelling through our energy channels creating harmony and balance within the physical, psychological and spiritual parts of us. As this happens within us our body is able to heal, relieving pain and creating a positive feeling of peace. Causing deep relaxation on a level not accessible through sleep but similar to meditation, Reiki creates a feeling of wholeness needed so badly today.
What are the benefits of Reiki?- Creates deep relaxation
- Reduces stress and anxiety
- Helps with depression
- Strengthens and supports the immune system
- Balances the energies within the body
- Releases emotional blockages
AROMATHERAPY...
Aromatherapy literally means “treatment with smells” and is the practise of using essential oils extracted from plants to improve and enhance health and appearance.
The uses of aromatherapy vary widely from treating dry or sensitive skin to treating depression and stress. The oils used in aromatherapy are called essential oils. A common use of essential oils is in massage, and combined with massage, the essential oils will help you relax and will relieve stress and tension. They will also improve your blood circulation and get rid of dead skin cells leaving your skin looking smooth and healthy.
What are the benefits of Aromatherapy massage?- Soothes dry, sensitive and allergic skin
- Has a calming effect on the body and mind

The Bowen Technique
Before I started Bowen I was taking painkillers daily to get me through my working day because of a constant back pain, only sleeping three (3) hours a night and drinking too much to help me sleep. After my first treatment I slept al night and have not taken a tablet since, but the one thing that I didn’t expect was how much better I feel in myself, my general well being has improved dramatically. I feel like me again and my family and friends say I’m back!
- Charlotte Ryan-Coombes
Having played badminton for 15 years, the past 10 years I have suffered with neck pain to such a degree that I used to take pain killers once or twice a day most days. I had tried all sorts of treatments from physiotherapy to yoga, homeopathy and nothing made any difference to the pain, which at it’s worse used to give me thumping headaches. After the first treatment of Bowen I experienced freedom from pain for the first time in years. Now I have treatment once a month and may get a couple of days where it is “niggling” but settles down again to leave me pain free! I never thought I would ever be free from the pain and hope it is here to stay!!!

On-site Seated Acupressure
I was sceptical at first but the benefits are tremendous! After just a 20-minute session your whole body feels relaxed yet invigorated! I just wish I could afford more session!
- Janet Hopkinson (assistant to head of BBC South West) BBC Plymouth
A massage in the workplace is such a great idea - I tend to get very tense around the neck and shoulders when I'm working, and a massage from Kim releases all of that pain and I can go back to my computer feeling loads better - and much less irritable, too! I would recommend anyone else with RSI type problems to give it a try. And it's so easy - no need to wear anything different as you don't have to lie down on the floor - she brings her own special chair.
