Therapies
Gupta Amygdala Retraining Coaching and CFS/MCS Recovery Support with Amygdala Retraining
Coaching involves assistance with doing the Gupta Amygdala Retraining programme and any additional support you may need. This is provided over telephone or Skype (I call you), or face-to-face if you live in, or near, Sheffield. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches alongside coaching as and when needed, including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy. I draw from my own experience of recovery from 5 years of CFS/ME and 8 years of working with others with CFS and related conditions such as FM and MCS to assist their recovery, since being fully recovered myself.
These sessions could be weekly if necessary, or spaced out as is most useful and appropriate to your circumstances. You may just like to book a one off session and this may be all you need to assist you with your recovery. However, generally it is best to have a few sessions for more progress to be made, and in order to work on releasing the deeper subconscious blocks to recovery, releasing emotions associated with the past that may still be affecting your health and for in depth support on the recovery journey. The cost includes some email support. It is also possible to arrange shorter appointments, such as half an hour, if this is more manageable at the moment.
Therapeutic Massage
I am currently not practicing massage, and refer you to my sister Rachael Goodall at Wellness for Women as a recommended massage therapist.
How can massage help me?
Massage has many benefits for everyone. It helps you to relax your body and your mind. One of the most popular reasons to schedule a massage is to relieve tension and stress.
As I do a lot of running myself, I am developing a specialist area in massage for people who do sports- such as runners, climbers and cyclists.
Massage benefits people who exercise, such as runners and climbers. It helps to enhance performance, reduce tense muscles, increase flexibility and body awareness, and also as injury prevention. Massage helps to dilate the blood vessels, which improves circulation, necessary for flushing out lactic acid that can cause problems such as swelling and muscle soreness.
For exercise, it is very important to keep the muscles healthy and in superior condition to increase performance. Massage assists this by improving muscle tone and helping to prevent fatigue and muscular atrophy which could result in injury.
Massage helps the individual to be conscious of how their body functions and what restrictions it may have. Training can be difficult and requires an enormous amount of dedication and hard work. For instance, the actual event that the runner is participating in can push their stress level to the max which can actually lessen their performance. This is where massage comes in as a necessary tool. By allowing the mind to relax and release inner tension, the body follows.
Massage in Pregnancy
Pregnancy Massage involves the gentle application of oil to your skin to promote a feeling of calm, wellness and relaxation for you and your baby. Massage is also beneficial preconception to help you relax and optimise your sense of well being. In the postnatal period it can be a time for you to recover, reflect and regain your strength.
Cushions and supports are provided to ensure your comfort and safety.
NLP, Coaching and EFT
NLP
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is the study of how we think (Neuro), how we speak (Linguistics) and the particular patterns/beliefs we have (Programmes).
It can help us to create personal change by providing a tool box of techniques to facilitate healing and personal growth.
This can be to change unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaving into more resourceful ones, to change the impact of difficult past experiences into healing ones, to assist us in moving forwards in our life to where we want to be. It can also help us to move on from serious disease and find health and happiness. As a Master Practitioner, I use NLP with clients as a therapy in itself and the framework of it exists in much of my Clinical Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching and EFT work.
Coaching
Life Coaching helps you to move forwards to where you want to be. It can help you to orient your life around reaching your particular goals- be it to improve your health, to achieve in business or to improve your relationships. As your coach I hold the highest vision for you in your life. I help you determine your specific goals, the steps needed to achieve them and hold you accountable to your progression in meeting your desired goals.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the use of language to assist entering a more relaxed state of awareness to access the unconscious mind to assist positive change. In this state tools of NLP can be brought in or simply positive suggestions related to your particular issues. Hypnotherapy can be used for many purposes such as to bring about a change of belief about yourself, to give up smoking and to assist healing from disease.
Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) involves tapping on acupuncture points and has been described as psychological acupuncture without needles. While tapping, words are used to support tuning into what you are working on – either on a physical or emotional level. It is a very effective tool and needs to be experimented with to fully realise its potential benefits.
I use EFT within most of my coaching sessions and am deeply committed to EFT because of the wonderful effect it has had on my life as well as the clients I work with.
